  • Patent number: 9237899
Abstract: A tissue grasping forceps and needle holder. A pair of movable arms are pivotably connected about a pivot connection, with each arm having a handle portion on one side and a working portion on the opposite side of the pivot connection. The working portions interengage when the handle portions are closed to a minimum spaced relation. The working portion has a clamp components and jaw component, with the clamp component comprising a plurality of synchronous teeth located to interlock when the handle portions are in the minimum spaced relation. The jaw component comprises a plurality of regularly spaced tines, with the tines being joined in pairs when the handle portions are in the minimum spaced relation with a gap between the tines, and an interstice between each spaced pair.

  • Patent number: 9187385
Abstract: A charcoal ignition fluid that is composed of a blend of bio-based hydrocarbons for the ignition of charcoal in both briquette and lump forms. The charcoal ignition fluid utilizes linear and branched alkanes produced by means of variations of the Fischer-Tropsch process that incorporates raw materials that are generally recognized as more sustainable than petroleum oil. The process for producing the charcoal ignition fluid deoxygenates fatty acids, esters, etc. by removing and fully saturating all double bonds in the bioactive raw materials.

  • Publication number: 20140259253
Abstract: An apparatus for protecting the face, head, and neck of a user against hazards including an eye protector with a lower area and an upper area for protecting the eye area of a user from hazards and a face protector having at least one fastener for removably attaching the upper edge area of the face protector to the lower edge area of an eye protector. The fastener sealably fastens the area between the face protector and the eye protector so that the face area and the eye area are protected from hazards. Other configurations may be used to protect other areas of the user's body and the fasteners may be magnetic, hook and look or any other suitable type of fastener. The eye protector may also be configured with a removeably attachable lens and the one or more removably attachable light emitters positioned on the outwardly facing surface of said face protector may also be used. Systems and methods of using the apparatus are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7973652
Abstract: A personal safety system is designed for a user of a vehicle. The system includes body-protective gear adapted for wear by the user of the vehicle. A sensor determines a positive or negative functional state of the body-protective gear. In the positive functional state, the body-protective gear is presumed to be properly applied to a body part of the user; and in the negative functional state, the body-protective gear is presumed to be improperly applied to the body part of the user. A transceiver is operatively connected to the sensor, and communicates the functional state of the body-protective gear to the vehicle. When the body-protective gear is in the negative functional state, operation of the vehicle is restricted.
