  • Patent number: 8487239
Abstract: An ion source, a mass spectrometer and a method of enhancing the performance of an ion source for use with a mass spectrometer. The ion source has a housing incorporating an ion source enclosure defining a chamber and an outer cover remote from the chamber. A fluid flow passageway is provided between the ion source enclosure and the outer cover. The method of the invention comprising supplying to the ion source housing a regulated flow of fluid through the fluid passageways so as to maintain the ion source enclosure within a predetermined temperature range of substantially between 60° c. and 80° c. and preferably at 70° c.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 29, 2009
Date of Patent: July 16, 2013
    Assignee: Micromass UK Limited
Inventors: Kevin R. Howes, Eliot Powell, Paul Read

  • Publication number: 20060291232
Abstract: A light assembly for an automotive vehicle includes a lens holder that supports an internal lens. The light assembly includes a light source powered by the vehicle. The internal lens includes an undulating surface facing the light source. A reflective metallic layer is disposed along the undulating surface to provide enhanced scattering of light and heat away from a reflex lens.

  • Publication number: 20060291227
Abstract: A light assembly for an automotive vehicle includes a lens holder that supports an internal lens. The light assembly includes a light source powered by the vehicle. The internal lens includes a first surface having a plurality of protrusions. The protrusion scatter and diffuses heat emitted from the light source away from an outwardly positioned reflex lens and an outer lens. The protrusions also reflect light toward a reflector to increase the overall brightness observed coming from the light assembly.
