  • Patent number: 9093869
Abstract: A bearing assembly for use in an electric motor has a temperature-activated stabilizer to reduce vibration. The electric motor has a stator assembly and a rotor assembly and the bearing assembly includes a collar that has an outer diameter that is less than an inner diameter of the stator assembly. The bearing assembly further includes a temperature-activated stabilizer assembly that includes an extensible member positioned within the stabilizer recess. Under a first temperature the extensible member has a first volume and under a second temperature the extensible member expands to a second volume that is larger than the first volume. As the extensible member expands, the extensible member comes into contact with the stator assembly.

  • Patent number: 9071625
Abstract: A mobile computing device with a mobile operating system and desktop operating system running concurrently and independently on a shared kernel without virtualization. The mobile operating system provides a user experience for the mobile computing device that suits the mobile environment. The desktop operating system provides a full desktop user experience when the mobile computing device is docked to a second user environment. Cross-environment notification and event handling allows the user to be notified of and respond to events occurring within the mobile operating system through the user environment associated with the desktop operating system. Events that may trigger cross-environment notification may be local events and/or remote events. The mobile computing device may be a smartphone running the Android mobile operating system and a full desktop Linux distribution on a modified Android kernel.

  • Publication number: 20150132158
Abstract: An electric submersible pumping system includes a motor that is filled with motor lubricant fluid and a pump driven by the motor. The electric submersible pumping system further includes a fluid expansion module connected to the motor that is designed to accommodate the expansion and contraction of the motor lubricant fluid in the motor. The fluid expansion module preferably includes a piston seal housing in fluid communication with the motor and a bag seal housing in fluid communication with the piston seal housing. The fluid expansion module further includes at least one axially movable barrier in the piston seal housing and at least one expansible barrier in the bag seal housing. The axially movable barrier and the expansible barrier cooperate to permit the expansion of the motor lubricant fluid without contaminating the motor lubricant fluid with fluids or and solids from the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 8930605
Abstract: Systems and methods for docking portable electronic devices. A master device may be docked to a slave device to control the operation of the slave device. The slave device may have a form factor different than that of the master device. For example, the slave device may be a tablet and the master device may be a handheld device such as a smart phone. The slave device may include a retention mechanism to retain the master device in a docked position with respect to the slave device. When in the docked position, the master device may be in operative communication with one or more hardware components of the slave device to control the operation thereof. The slave device may lack the ability to exploit the full functionality of the one or more hardware components of the slave device without communication with the master device.

  • Publication number: 20140254957
Abstract: A bulk material transport bag comprising a flanged discharge apparatus that secures a replaceable discharge outlet cover is disclosed. The discharge outlet cover may be quickly replaced to reseal the discharge outlet after use. The flanged discharge apparatus is comprised of a flange or base ring assembly engaged with the bag around the bag discharge opening. A locking flange or ring secures the replaceable cover to the base ring assembly to cover and seal the bag discharge opening. The replaceable cover is intentionally incised to discharge and empty the contents of the bag. When the bag is emptied a new replaceable cover is mounted between the base ring assembly and locking ring to seal the bag discharge opening. The replaceable cover may be comprised of the same material used for construction of the bag or another suitable material.

  • Patent number: 8793608
Abstract: A dual-screen user device and methods for revealing a combination of desktops on single and multiple screens are disclosed. Specifically, a determined number of desktops and/or running applications can be selectively displayed on dual screen displays conditioned upon inputs received and the state of the device. Desktop displays and applications can be selectively shifted between the screens by user gestures, or moved off of the screens by other user gestures and hidden. The hidden desktops and screens can be re-displayed by yet another gesture. The desktops and applications are arranged in a window stack that represents a logical order of the desktops and applications. Desktops and applications can be selectively launched and added to the window stack. The user can also select where the desktops/applications are to be inserted and where they are first to be displayed after being launched.

  • Patent number: 8621575
Abstract: Methods of securely performing online transactions are described which involve two independently controlled web servers. In order to complete a transaction, a user interacts concurrently with each of the two web servers and authentication may occur between the user and each web server and between web servers. Each of the two web servers provide data which is used to complete the transaction and the data provided by the first web server is communicated directly to the second web server for use in the transaction. In an embodiment, the first web server provides a web page which enables a user to specify a variable which is used in the transaction. This is communicated to the second web server which processes the transaction along with an identifier for the message. The identifier may be used in validating the variable before it is used in processing the transaction. Following completion of a transaction this may be reported in real time to the first web server.

  • Publication number: 20130080945
Abstract: Methods and devices for configuring and displaying user interface elements of a multi-display device relative to a device state and/or device orientation. More particularly, the device is equipped with one or more sensors that facilitate the detectability of the relationship of the primary screen to the secondary screen and the general orientation of the device. The method includes accepting a set of user preferences for individual user interface elements for various device states and/or device orientations. The method and device may configure individual windows, per user settings, relative to device state and/or user orientation of the device. The method and device may present, for example, a single set of reconfigurable and/or re-locatable user interface elements in different locations depending on device orientation and/or display mode. Further, the method and device may provide the user the ability to switch both display mode and user interface action simultaneously.
