  • Patent number: 7815032
Abstract: Roller assemblies for transporting and laterally shifting pipe section, or joints, on oil and gas exploration and production laybarges, drilling/production vessels and platforms, and pipe spooling yards are disclosed. The roller assemblies comprise rollers that are capable of being tilted to facilitate lateral shifting of the pipe sections or joints. The roller assemblies comprise a frame, a tilting assembly, a roller frame pivotally connected to the tilting assembly and the frame, and a roller rotatably connected to the roller frame by an axle. The tilting assembly lifts one end of the roller frame to tilt the roller.

  • Patent number: 7719686
Abstract: A system utilizing the flow cell of the present invention includes a reflectance mode spectrophotometer positioned with respect to the flow cell or a probe. Either the flow cell or the probe has a thin partition mounted in spaced relationship with respect to a transparent window. The partition has a predetermined index of refraction and has a thickness dimension that is less than that of the window. The spacing between the partition and the window is such that evanescent coupling of radiation reflected from the liquid into the material of the window is prevented. The spectrophotometer directs interrogating radiation toward a liquid flowing through the sample chamber and responds to interrogating radiation reflected from the liquid to produce an electrical signal representative of a color property thereof.

  • Patent number: 7542143
Abstract: A flow cell for measuring the color properties of a liquid flowing therethrough using interrogating radiation at a predetermined wavelength has a thin partition mounted in spaced relationship between both a window and a base of the cell. The partition and the window define an air cavity therebetween. The spacing between the partition and the window is such that evanescent coupling of radiation reflected from the liquid into the material of the window is prevented. The cell has a pressurized fluid inflow channel and a pressurized fluid outflow channel formed therein. Each of the inflow and outflow channels communicates with the air cavity. The inflow and outflow channels are sized to pass a pressurized fluid, such as pressurized air, through the air cavity such that, in use, the spaced relationship between the partition and the window is maintained by pressurized fluid in the air cavity.

  • Patent number: 7423755
Abstract: A flow cell for measuring the color properties of a liquid flowing through the flow cell using interrogating radiation at a predetermined wavelength has a thin partition mounted in spaced relationship between both a window and a base of the cell. The partition has a predetermined index of refraction and has a thickness dimension that is less than that of the window. The spacing between the partition and the window is such that evanescent coupling of radiation reflected from the liquid into the material of the window is prevented. Typically, this spacing is a distance not less than three (3) times the predetermined maximum wavelength in the wavelength range of interrogating radiation. A plurality of spacer elements may be disposed in the air cavity to maintain the spaced relationship between the partition and the window. The flow cell has a liquid supply passage and a liquid removal passage formed therein.

  • Publication number: 20060169466
Abstract: A fluid actuated packer 10 and collar 36 assembly is provided for positioning on a tubular member 12. The collar 36 is moveable by a running tool 110 positioned within the tubular member and has a closed position and a packer activate position, fluidly connects the collar 36 to the packer element 14 when in the packer activate position, and closes off the flow path 26 when in the closed position. According to a method of the invention, the flow path 26 extends from the collar to the expandable packer element 14 and is open to activate the packer element 14 and closes off the flow path 26 when in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20060102297
Abstract: A temporarily mountable strip door system includes a strip mounting frame. The frame has mounting features to enable releasable coupling to an exterior of an opening in a building. A plurality of flexible door strips are affixed to the mounting frame. The system includes means for releasably affixing the mounting frame to the exterior of the opening. A method for controlling climate in a temporarily enclosed space include moving conditioned air from inside a device having a permanent heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit associated therewith through a duct into the temporarily enclosed space. Air is returned air from the temporarily enclosed space to the inside of the device.

  • Patent number: 5090497
Abstract: A composite flexible torsion bar coupling is used to connect the orbiting rotor of a Moineau-type motor to the concentrically rotating output drive shaft. The two-piece torsion bar coupling is hollow, to allow fluid passage through the rotor. This permits large quantities of fluid flow through the bit without passing all the fluid through the motor. The torsion bar is connected to the rotor at an inside surface adjacent to a power-producing surface of the rotor. This configuration provides the shortest possible coupling distance, thereby considerably reducing the overall length of the motor without decreasing its power output.
