Patent number: 7904209Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a building automation system, and, more particularly, to an Internet-centric, open, extensible software and hardware framework supporting all aspects of control and monitoring of a smart building ecosphere. The present invention further relates to an “intelligent,” real-time control system capable of both autonomous process control and interaction with system users and system administrators, which is configured to accommodate functional extensions and a broad array of sensors and control devices. The system allows individuals to communicate, monitor and adjust their personal environmental preferences (temperature, light, humidity, white noise, etc.) much like they would in an automobile, via the Internet. The system is equipped with an occupancy sensor that recognizes the presence and identity of the individual.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2008Date of Patent: March 8, 2011Assignee: Syracuse UniversityInventors: Marek Podgorny, Luke Beca, Roman Markowski, Edward A. Publication number: 20060208630Abstract: A light emitting display comprising a first electrode layer on a substrate. The electrode layer is patterned to form a plurality of laterally spaced apart strips in a first direction. A plurality of spacedly disposed light emitting organic elements with a second electrode layer atop are disposed on the first electrode layer in a second direction. An undercut structure made of an undercut pattern transfer layer and an overlaying pattern transfer layer. The undercut structure is disposed between the plurality of spacedly disposed light emitting organic elements. A light emitting display having a color isolation well. The color isolation well is characterized by a first well layer and a second well layer in which the first well layer matches a property of an emissive polymer or small molecule dye held by the well whereas the second well layer does not match the property.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2005Publication date: September 21, 2006Inventors: Paul Roman,, Harold Madsen

Patent number: 3953730Abstract: An optical reading head is described which is particularly designed to read codes generally formed by fluorescent or phosphorescent bars. The codes are carried by a support, such as an envelope which moves past the head at a relatively high speed. The support carrying the code is illuminated from a light source through a set of outgoing optical fibers, and the modulated light retransmitted by the code markings is conveyed through a set of incoming optical fibers to a processing device. Such a reading head is particularly adapted for use in a postal sorting system.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1974Date of Patent: April 27, 1976Assignee: Thomson-CSF Visualisation et Traitement des Informations (T-VT)Inventors: Guy Henry, Paul Roman, Claude Tetevuide
