  • Publication number: 20150366469
Abstract: A system that continuously monitors cardiovascular health using an electrocardiography (ECG) source synchronized to an optical (PPG) source, without requiring invasive techniques or ongoing, large-scale external scanning procedures. The system includes an ECG signal source with electrodes contacting the skin, which generates a first set of information, and a watch-like device, worn on a limb such as an arm or a wrist, having a reflectance-based PPG signal source that generates a second set of information. Together with a processing module, housed within the watch-like device and configured to receive and process the first and second sets of information, from which the time differential of the heart beat pulmonary pressure wave can be calculated, continuous data related to cardiovascular health markers such as arterial stiffness can be determined. Automated heart rate calibration of the reflectance-based PPG sensor can also be achieved.

  • Patent number: 9096331
Abstract: Systems and methods for jacking an aircraft structure using beams coupled to seat tracks attached to a floor beam grid structure. Mechanical load distribution plates can have offset lift pin location to allow a certain percentage of the load to be applied to specific seat tracks. Different quantities of seat tracks can be utilized per requirements. Attachment rails that interface with the seat tracks use the same hardware that is used to fasten aircraft seats to the seat tracks. This helps handle the load and prevent damage to the seat tracks. The jacking apparatus also includes load swivels and a hanger link to prevent any side or twisting loads from being applied.

  • Patent number: 8978436
Abstract: For controlling the flatness of the strip during the rolling of aluminum strip or foil, the system consists of a full width bank of cryogenic roll cooling devices acting on the roll(s) and a full width bank of roll heating devices also acting the roll(s). Both or either of the cooling and heating banks are divided into individually controllable zones. A process automation system controls the action of the cooling and heating banks via feedback from a strip shape meter and/or a predictive process model, in order, by thermal growth/contraction, to create the best roll profile for rolling flat strip.
