  • Publication number: 20100054769
Abstract: A multicolor marking platform may include a marking engine with a storage device storing color standard data, a non-black color separation station, marking process stations to selectively mark a color test pattern on a target substrate, and a color control logic with color control applications to selectively control color characteristics of the marking engine by controlling the non-black color separation station or a marking process station; and a spectral sensor to detect each color test pattern on the target substrate and provide corresponding color measurement data to the color control logic. The color control logic may selectively control the non-black color separation station or a marking process station in response to the color measurement data and the corresponding color standard data in relation to the selected color control application. Various embodiments of the multicolor marking platform and a method for controlling color in same are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20090296091
Abstract: Color measurements of color samples are estimated by a system and method wherein an area coverage of a color sample is computed, the color sample is printed, a color of the printed color sample, such as a set of reflectance values, is measured at a first temperature, and a color of the printed color sample is estimated at a second temperature lower than the first temperature, the estimation being based on the area coverage and a thermochromatic model which represents relationships between measured colors of printed color samples at the first and second temperatures.

  • Patent number: 7515843
Abstract: A xerographic system (8) includes a moving photoreceptor (10) and multiple toner development systems (12, 14) arranged to selectively dispose regions of toner on the moving photoreceptor. A toner density sensor (40) is arranged to measure toner density on the moving photoreceptor over a sensor area (A). A toner coverage monitor (64) operatively connected with the toner density sensor (40) monitors toner coverage based on measurements by the toner density sensor of toner coverage calibration regions disposed on the moving photoreceptor by the multiple toner development systems. A spatial registration monitor (66) also operatively connected with the toner density sensor (40) monitors spatial registration of the multiple toner development systems based on measurements by the toner density sensor of spatial registration calibration regions disposed on the moving photoreceptor by the multiple toner development systems.

  • Publication number: 20090080918
Abstract: A media handling device includes sensing means disposed in a media elevator that is movable in a generally-vertical travel path proximate to a generally-fixed surface. The sensing means detects a recorded information that is disposed in the surface. The resulting detected information is used to identify the media elevator's current position. Also, another media handling device includes a recorded information disposed in a movable media elevator. Sensing means are fixed proximate to a generally-vertical media elevator travel path. The recorded information is sensed and the resulting detected information is used to identify the media elevator's current position.

  • Publication number: 20090009766
Abstract: A method for estimating color measurements of color samples includes printing a color sample based on input data, measuring a color of the printed color sample with an in-line spectral sensor at a first temperature, and estimating a color of the printed color sample which would be output by a reference spectral sensor at a second temperature. The estimation is based on a thermochromatic model which represents relationships between measured colors of printed color samples on the in-line spectral sensor at the first temperature and the reference spectral sensor at the second temperature. The reference spectral sensor is a different type of sensor from the in-line spectral sensor, so the color response of the two spectral sensors is different, even when the measurement conditions are identical. Consequently, a set of printed spot color samples generate different measured colors at the second temperature on the in-line spectral sensor from the reference spectral sensor.
