  • Patent number: 6096379
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the continuous feeding of polymer chips or particles to an electron beam accelerator makes use of spreading, belt conveying, irradiation and cooling. The apparatus is designed to make more efficient use of radiation through continuous feed. This method and apparatus, suitably adapted, is also used for food irradiation and decontamination, particularly for ground meats.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 16, 1999
Date of Patent: August 1, 2000
    Inventor: Paul S. Eckhoff

  • Patent number: 5798496
Abstract: Method and apparatus for the disposal of waste including a rotary kiln comprising at least one, and preferably a plurality of plasma guns positioned within a chamber defined by the rotary kiln, and at least one target electrode which is rotatable. One preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a portable waste disposal unit wherein a rotary kiln, at least one plasma gun and a movable target electrode are advantageously positioned on a truck for ready transportation to a waste site.

  • Patent number: 4402914
Abstract: A continuous throughput endless loop reactor for polymerizing monomers formed by a material conveying conduit connected in an endless loop having spaced apart raw material inlet means and polymer output means in which the output volume can be controlled by a pressure sensitive element and in which a coolant line passes internally through the conduit preferably becoming near the output means. Reaction speed as well as thermal control is augmented by helical vanes of alternately pitch sections joining the coolant line and the interior walls of the conduit.

  • Patent number: 4191796
Abstract: A method for preventing the peeling of old paint from substrate when a latex paint is applied thereto comprising the step of first applying to the old paint a composition consisting essentially of an aqueous resin binder formed by blending (1) an aqueous alkaline emulsion of a polyurethane resin based on a drying oil and (2) an aqueous dispersion of a thermoplastic acrylic polymer.
