Patent number: 5903326Abstract: A control system selectively controls the operation of at least one lamp and at least one garage door opener. The control system includes a control module. The control module includes connectors adapted to be coupled to at least one lamp through household AC power conductors. The control module also includes terminals adapted to be connected to a garage door opener mechanism. A circuit positioned in the control module receives and identifies radio frequency signals, stores control information associated with a plurality of received signals from a remote control in a training mode and outputs control signals for communication over the AC power line and the garage door mechanism in accordance with the stored control signals when one of said remote control signals is received in an operating mode. The control module also includes a selector used to select garage door and/or light control operations to be associated with a signal received by the control module in a training mode.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1995Date of Patent: May 11, 1999Assignee: Prince CorporationInventors: Michael J. Suman, Paul S. Van Lente, Mark L. Zeinstra, William S. De Vree

Patent number: 5406270Abstract: An operator identification system utilizes "dead" switches, such as window actuating switches which have no control function until such time as a vehicle ignition is turned on, for identifying a particular vehicle operator. The inactive switch contact closure is detected by an electrical circuit which also tests to determine whether the ignition is off and if it is, the window switch closure provides an operator identification signal to a vehicle microprocessor for identifying a particular driver and preset option functions associated with that driver.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1994Date of Patent: April 11, 1995Assignee: Prince CorporationInventor: Paul S. Patent number: 4953305Abstract: A vehicle compass includes a magnetic field sensor for mounting within a vehicle and providing two output channels of information representing orthogonal direction sensing of the earth's magnetic field within the vehicle. The sensor is coupled to an electrical circuit including a microprocessor for sampling the data from each of the two channels and providing a plurality of tests to determine if the rate of change of data is within a prescribed limit thereby indicating valid data is being received. Further, the data is tested to determine the maximum and minimum signal levels during movement of the vehicle through a completed 360.degree. path of travel and for calculating therefrom the compass compensation information used to provide a corrected heading display.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1987Date of Patent: September 4, 1990Assignee: Prince CorporationInventors: Paul S.
