Abstract: Provided is an electronic medical records system enhancement and method of implementation and use. The system is in electronic communication through a network with one or more databases containing patient-specific data identifying any or all medications for which a patient's pharmaceutical benefit provider provides financial benefits, and identifying the net cost to the patient of each medication in view of all financial benefits and restrictions that the pharmaceutical benefit provider provides to that particular patient. The patient's health savings and related accounts can be linked to the system and their preferred order of payment automated. A pharmacy may access certain patient-specific data though the system to quickly compare net costs to the patient for appropriate medication substitutes.
