  • Patent number: 11942069
Abstract: A method of automated feedforward filter design comprising designing a feedforward filter for a system implementing active noise cancelling is described. The method includes designing the feedforward filter by determining a filter transfer function of the feedforward filter. The filter transfer function is determined using a least square method. The method also includes determining the filter transfer function by defining a target transfer function of the feedforward filter and applying the least square method using the target transfer function to determine a filter expression for the filter transfer function. The least square method is a weighted least square method.

  • Patent number: 10070220
Abstract: The proposed invention implements real-time sensitivity estimation, using a microphone path, and variable gain. When a multi-microphone system is configured to perform in its target use case, and the microphone gain is estimated, and the system output is corrected for performance degradation, sensitivity compensation is performed. A classification system is implemented to enable or disable subsequent gain estimation, and hence power consumption required when enabled or disabled, on a frame-by-frame basis. An acoustic environment is used to trigger a classification system, with electrical power consumption analysis performed to detect audio segments. The approach to the microphone sensitivity mismatch problem is to estimate the mismatch at runtime and provide gain compensation, and provide runtime compensation for the difference in sensitivity to sound pressure level between transducer elements in an array of 2 or more microphones.

  • Publication number: 20170013833
Abstract: A proactive repellent and camp perimeter defense against apex predators is provided. In an implementation, the proactive repellent is a liquid agent or aerosol tuned to the sensitive olfactory senses of apex predators. Ingredients catch the attention of the apex predator, while also providing olfactory aversion signals. The example repellent can be applied around an area to be proactively protected via delivery methods such as spray, aerosol, gel, or stream apparatuses, or by foam, cloth, gauze, sponge, wick, or swab applicators. The repellent then dries, emitting repellent odors and chemicals in both liquid and dried states. The example repellent may be pre-applied to artifacts, such as string, cord, or ribbon for surrounding a campsite, or on cards, tubes, sticks, balls, granules, and stakes. An example device may be worn by a hiker as a cartridge, nodule, capsule, aerator, or fabric evaporator, and then reused by rewetting with the example repellent.

  • Publication number: 20080093357
Abstract: A heating device for individually and automatically warming and vibrating one or more containers to thaw, warm, and mix a liquid within the containers, the liquid being cold or frozen. The device heats the contents of each container to a selected temperature by heat exchange between a heated fluid and the contents of the container. A bag or liner holds the fluid to be heated and the container thereby allowing the bag or liner to be placed into a device well or reservoir for heating while vibrating or shaking elements connected to the well or reservoir assist in mixing and uniformly heating the fluid and the container contents. The container typically is a baby bottle, syringe, test tube, or the like.

  • Patent number: 7250823
Abstract: The phase locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer includes a phase detector receiving a reference signal, a controlled oscillator (e.g. a voltage controlled oscillator) connected to the phase detector and generating a synthesized frequency output signal based upon the reference signal, a mixer (e.g. an in-phase and quadrature-phase (IQ) modulator) connected to the controlled oscillator, a divider connected between the mixer and the phase detector, and a signal source driving the mixer. The frequency synthesizer and method have narrow frequency steps (e.g. as low as fractions of a Hertz) while using a relatively high reference frequency to maintain low phase noise. Furthermore, the fine frequency tuning resolution is achieved while also reducing output spurs and using a relatively simple topology.

  • Publication number: 20050239927
Abstract: Polyolefin fibers and filaments, and fabrics made therefrom, are rendered dyeable via a combination of dyeability additives. The dyeability additive combination comprises at least one compound selected from the group consisting of the polyamides, copolyamides and polyetherpolyamides and at least one ethylene vinyl acetate. The dyed polyolefin fibers and fabrics are rendered light stable via the use of a combination of stabilizers, which comprises at least one compound selected from the group consisting of the ultraviolet light stabilizers and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of the hindered amine light stabilizers. The ultraviolet light stabilizers are for example hydroxyphenylbenzotriazoles or tris-aryl-s-triazines. The hindered amine light stabilizers are for example of high molecular weight, for instance greater than 1000 g/mol. The dyes are for example anthraquinone blue dyes, anthraquinone red dyes, diazo red dyes or nitro yellow dyes.

  • Publication number: 20050091055
Abstract: Information such as patient medical notes, criminal/parole/probationary notes and company information is often stored a central location. When workers such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, police, probation officers and salespersons are working remotely from that central location accessing and updating the relevant information is often quite difficult. Thus the present invention provides a system and method for accessing and updating information stored in a central location by a remote worker, said system comprising: a central store for storing information; and a mobile telephone for use by said remote worker to interrogate and update said store. The mobile phone may includes a TTS system and/or ASR system for facilitating the information being accessed and updated.

  • Publication number: 20050033585
Abstract: Mobile telephones are not only able to make and receive telephone calls and send text messages but are increasingly being developed with additional functions. These include the ability to play music, access the Internet and/or play games. Digital music formats such as MP3 or ATRAC have the ability to store information within the encoded music stream. Such information can comprise the name of the track, album, musician, singer etc. It is envisaged that mobile telephones could be provided with TTS systems. The present invention is directed towards a mobile telephone in combination with a TTS system which is used to present information regarding music or a game being played or information from the Internet.

  • Patent number: 6701157
Abstract: A novel wireless point to multipoint communication system which maximizes the number of remote stations capable of communicating with a base station is disclosed. Independent gain control of the transmitter on the remote stations as a function of the distance between the remote station and the base station is used. The gain control may be accomplished by attenuators in the RF transmit circuit of the remote stations. The attenuators may be placed immediately preceding the RF amplifiers in the RF transmit circuit of the remote stations. The amount of attenuation of the attenuators may be controlled by a microprocessor. By minimizing the gain from the remote station transmitters, the noise floor of the base station receiver is minimized thereby increasing the performance of the base station receiver. This increase in performance permits more remote stations to communicate with the base station.
