  • Publication number: 20070265005
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method, terminal device, network element, and computer program product for selecting a network in order to provide access to a prioritized service via a wireless access network (200), wherein an identifier portion in an authentication response is set to a first service-specific default identifier portion dedicated to the prioritized service in a home network of a terminal device (10). Then, at least one network list, which is advertised by at least one wireless access network (200) if the home network cannot be accessed based on the service-specific default identifier portion, is used to select a visitor network indicated in the at least one network list as a network which supports the prioritized service, and an identifier portion in a subsequent authentication response is set to a second service-specific default identifier portion dedicated to the prioritized service in the selected visitor network.

  • Patent number: 6955918
Abstract: A method (400) for relocating a serving network entity is presented. Before the relocation certain packet data information is transmitted between a terminal and a first network entity (901) at least via a second network entity (902) and via a third network entity (903). The first network entity (901) is connected to the second network entity (902) with a first path (911) and to a third network entity (903) with a second path (912), and the second network entity, which is before the relocation acting as the serving network entity, is connected to the third network entity, which is its peer network entity and after relocation acting as the serving network entity, with a third path (913). The first, second and third paths are separate paths. After the relocation said information is transmitted via the third network entity.

  • Patent number: 6937862
Abstract: A method for maintaining association between switching units in a network includes the steps of determining that a call is to be routed via a base station, routing units, and a switching unit. The call is then routed via the base station, at least one routing unit, a routing link, and a switching unit. An association message is transmitted to the switching unit to inform it of an address of an additional switching unit. A mobile station within a coverage area of the base station is capable of communicating with the switching units, and elements of the system are configured to address the additional switching unit to determine whether the mobile station is communicating via an appropriate path.

  • Patent number: 6909895
Abstract: The present invention proposes a method for performing a relocation procedure for a user equipment (UE) communicating in a communication network and being movable therein, said communication network comprising at least two serving nodes (SGSN1, SGSN2) of a core network of said communication network, each of which serving nodes being connected to at least one access network controller (RNC1, RNC2) of a access network of said communication network, each of which access network controllers being adapted to perform a communication with said user equipment (UE) within its coverage area, and each serving node being assigned to a respective routing area (RA1, RA2), said method comprising the steps of monitoring (S100) the occurrence of a relocation condition, deciding (S200), whether said relocation condition is an inter serving node relocation condition, switching (S400) the communication from a first access network controller (RNC1) of a first serving node (SGSN1) to a second access network controller (RNC2) of a

  • Publication number: 20040029614
Abstract: Method comprising the steps of, when a mobile station is connected in a call routed to a first part via a first base station, a first routing unit and a first switching unit and the mobile station is within the coverage area of a second base station; determining that the call is to be transferred to be routed to the first part via the second base station, a second routing unit, the first routing unit and the first switching unit: routing the call to the first part via the second base station, the second routing unit, a routing link, the first routing unit and the first switching unit; and transmitting an association message to the first switching unit to inform it of the address of a fourth switching unit; whereby the mobile station is capable of communicating with a second part via the fourth switching unit, and the first switching unit is capable of addressing the fourth switching unit for determining whether the mobile station is communicating with the second part via the fourth switching unit.
