  • Patent number: 6375244
Abstract: A security lock is provided for a door having a top, a bottom, a frame and a deadbolt lock. The security lock includes a first bolt which is mountable on the door so as to extend to the top thereof to selectively engage the frame near the top of the door. There is a second bolt mountable on the door so as to extend to the bottom thereof to selectively engage the frame near the bottom of the door. There is also a mechanism which operatively connects the first bolt and the second bolt to the deadbolt lock. When the deadbolt lock is engaged, the first bolt and the second bolt engage the frame. When the deadbolt lock is disengaged, the first bolt and the second bolt are disengaged from the frame.

  • Patent number: 5579577
Abstract: A vehicular exhaust system muffler fabrication method including using mechanical lock joints for joining the end tubes to the flow tubes. Each end tube has one end whose outer diameter is selected such that the one end may be loosely, telescopically, and overlappingly fitted within the adjacent end of the adjacent flow tube. Each of the overlapped ends of the end tubes and the flow tubes are mechanically locked together by a circumferential skewed bead which is formed in the overlapped ends, with the plane of the skewed bead being at an angle less than 90.degree. with respect to the central longitudinal axis of the overlapped ends. The muffler fabrication method also includes the use of other mechanical lock joints to lock the end tubes within apertures in the end panels of the muffler. Each of these other lock joints includes a continuous, circumferential bead formed in the end tube and in the annular flange, which is integral with the end panel and which extends along the end tube.

Abstract: A vehicular exhaust system muffler including a mechanical lock joint for joining the end tubes to the flow tubes. One end of each end tube has an outer diameter selected such that the one end may be loosely, telescopically and overlappingly fitted within the adjacent end of the adjacent flow tube. The overlapped ends of the end tubes and the flow tubes are mechanically locked together by a circumferential skewed bead formed in the overlapped ends, where the plane of the skewed bead is at an angle less than ninety degrees with respect to the central longitudinal axis of the overlapped ends. This mechanical locking maintains the relative axial positions of the overlapped ends and resists relative movement between the overlapped ends and between the internal panels and the wrapper due to the application of torsional and axial forces that the tubes experience during the assembly of the muffler.

  • Patent number: 5111917
Abstract: A variable damping shock absorber is disclosed. The variable damping mechanism is activated by depression of a pin on the upper end of a shock absorber piston. Depression of the pin causes a spring loaded ratchet drive to engage a ratchet on a slide valve to alternatively ratchet the valve and slide the valve between an open and blocking position between two or more transverse flowways in the lower end of the shock.

  • Patent number: 4874147
Abstract: A utility tray having multiple compartments for retention of items such as nails, screws, washers and other small parts; and a pivoted lid to cover a single array of compartments, an upper mounting plate attached to the floor of the tray and a lower mounting plate facilitates mounting and demounting the tray and upper mounting plate to and from the uppermost platform of a foldable step ladder. The tray has bores that accept swiveling typecastor wheels that convert the tray into a wheeled, low profile tool and small parts retainer convenient for use in making under vehicle repairs or for use by tradesmen in home construction and remodeling.

  • Patent number: 4477062
Abstract: An adjustable gas spring shock absorber, a control device therefore, and a control device for a fluid mechanism. The control device employs adsorption to regulate the shock absorber or fluid mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4460073
Abstract: A shock absorber of the direct acting type for vehicles in which improved riding characteristics are obtained by providing an additional back check valve mechanism and anti-dump valve mechanism. Both valve mechanisms are normally biased in a closed position, are opened in response to an initial pressure increase and move into a second closed position when pressure conditions reach a predetermined value above the lower initial pressure increase level. The back check valve mechanism can be made responsive either to the pressure in the compression space or the rebound space. The anti-dump valve mechanism is carried by the piston and controls initial and low pressure flow between the compression space and rebound space.

  • Patent number: 4105194
Abstract: A self-leveling combined shock absorber and liquid spring assist unit comprising a pair of tubular structures of the piston and cylinder shock absorber type, one of which defines a load bearing spring chamber and the other of which includes an elongated displacement member for the spring chamber, the displacement member being tubular and cooperating with a pump rod to provide a pump-up function for the unit. An improved pump check valve arrangement between the end surface of the displacement member and the exterior annular surface of the pump rod is provided for controlling the flow of hydraulic fluid between the pump chamber and the load bearing spring chamber which comprises an annular body of elastomeric material having an annular anti-extrusion washer of rigid material embedded therein which is spring urged into sealing engagement by a coil spring and held in assembled relation by a rigid tubular element fixed to the exterior periphery of the displacement member.
