  • Patent number: 10827537
Abstract: A network core software defined networking (SDN) enabled onboarding of microservices in a 6G network is provided to enable a one-time registration of a device with a network. Rather than having a core network facilitates establishing communications channels every time a device attaches or connects to the mobile network, the SDN enabled onboarding system disclosed herein can onboard the device, authenticate the device, register the device with the network, and determine addressing for the device. When the device reconnects to the network, the device has already been onboarded, and so the device does not need to go through these steps again, but can rather immediately start communicating with desired network service.

  • Patent number: 10826843
Abstract: An SDN client on an end device receives slice placement instructions relating to services to be placed on a selected slice from an SDN controller. The SDN client also receives policy input regarding allocation of resources on the end device and user preference input regarding priority of the services. A network slice is selected on which the resource will be allocated based on the slice placement instructions, the policy input, and user preference input.

  • Patent number: 10827329
Abstract: Peripheral devices such as wearables can link to mobile devices to access network elements. These peripheral devices can comprise a communication part and a processing part. Each of these parts, specially the processing part of the next item in a communication chain, can be multiple times larger and stronger than the previous linked item. For instance, the peripheral device can be connected to the mobile device which can be in line connected to an NodeB device. Because the processing power of mobile device can be several times stronger than the peripheral, a mobile edge computing platform and a multi-access application function facilitate sharing of processing power capabilities between the peripheral devices, mobile devices, and/or the NodeB devices.

  • Publication number: 20200343969
Abstract: Facilitating dynamic satellite and mobility convergence for mobility backhaul in advanced networks (e.g., 4G, 5G, 6G and beyond) is provided herein. Operations of a system can comprise determining that a group of user equipment devices are located in a defined geographic area and are consuming more than a defined level of resources of a wireless communications network based on an amount of network traffic received from the group of user equipment devices. The operations also can comprise configuring an integrated network comprising a first group of terrestrial network devices and a second group of satellite network devices. Further, the operations can comprise routing at least a portion of network traffic associated with the group of user equipment devices among the first group of terrestrial network devices and the second group of satellite network devices.

  • Publication number: 20200287977
Abstract: Techniques for instantiating and managing microservices for use in connection with devices associated with a core network are presented. A service management component (SMC) can determine a subgroup of services to be used for a group of one or more devices based on results of analysis of characteristics and service conditions associated with the group of devices, wherein a characteristic can relate to whether a device is stationary or mobile. At a desired time(s), which can be periodically, dynamically, or upon request, SMC can instantiate or facilitate instantiating the subgroup of services to facilitate communicating data associated with the device(s) using the subgroup of services. The services can comprise a connectionless service, connection-oriented service, charging service, authentication service, UPF services, or other services. SMC can employ the connectionless service when a device is stationary, but the connectionless service can be extended to devices when they are nomadic or mobile.

  • Publication number: 20200244573
Abstract: Unlike smart devices, Internet of things (IoTs), such as meter readers, generate very low revenue per user. Traditional tunnel/bearer based connection-oriented architectures do not scale economically for billions of IoT devices due to the amount of signaling overhead associated with GTP tunnel setup/tear down and the states related to GTP tunnels maintained at various parts of the mobile network. However, the mobility network can efficiently support massive stationary and/or mobile IoTs by reducing the amount of signaling overhead, the state of the IoTs kept in network, and simplifying the data plane when possible.

  • Publication number: 20200220615
Abstract: In response to a determination that network communication traffic at a network node relates to an emergency communication, a network controller can be operable to analyze a network condition associated with the network node. Based on an analysis of the network condition, the network controller can facilitate an adjustment to a partition of an integrated access and backhaul link. The network controller can further be operative to determine whether an operator policy is applicable to the adjustment of the partition. Additionally, the network controller can be operable to facilitate the selection of a path to route the emergency communication based upon the network condition and the operator policy.
