Patent number: 11925904Abstract: A funnel-less filtration device that attaches directly to a storage container such as a cell culture media bottle. The device includes a filter collar containing one or more membranes, an inlet with a coupling device for attaching the filter device to a supply of liquid to be filtered, an outlet at a lower portion of the collar, a vacuum port in the collar below the membrane(s) and a filtered vent in the collar above the membrane(s). Optionally, the device may include a filtrate reservoir attached to the outlet, preferably by a threaded connection. Optionally, the upper opening to the filter collar is selectively and removably sealed with a lid until used. The lid is then removed the filter device inverted over a storage container such as cell culture media bottle and the two are attached via the upper opening of the filter collar. The assembly is then inverted so the supply container is above the filter device.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2017Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: EMD Millipore CorporationInventors: Christopher A. Scott, Kurt Greenizen, Paul Sydlowski

Patent number: 11433355Abstract: A clamp including a first jaw member having a camming surface, a second jaw member pivotable with respect to the first jaw member, a first biasing member biasing the first and second jaw members to a first position; and a locking mechanism that includes a cam or roller for cooperating with the camming surface of the jaw member, and a second biasing member biasing the cam or roller against the camming surface to lock the first and second jaw members in a second position. An optional alignment collar can be used to align components of the filtration apparatus prior to clamping. Filtration apparatus including the clamp, and also optionally including the alignment collar, is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2017Date of Patent: September 6, 2022Assignee: EMD Millipore CorporationInventors: Kurt E. Greenizen, Christopher A. Scott, Paul Sydlowski, John Doyle, Ryan A. Amara

Patent number: 11104491Abstract: A container and a container engaging member. The container engaging member may include a sample holder or reservoir, a filtration element and collar. In the assembled condition, the sample holder or reservoir is upstream of the filtration element, the container is downstream of the filtration element, and the sample holder or reservoir is attached to the container. The container engagement member is engageable and disengageable from the bottle or container in a quick attach, quick release manner, such as with only a 90 degree, ¼ turn. A tactile and/or audible indication that the engagement is complete is provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2017Date of Patent: August 31, 2021Assignee: EMD Millipore CorporationInventors: Chris Scott, Kurt Greenizen, Paul Sydlowski, Jay Doyle

Patent number: 10737266Abstract: In one embodiment, a removable pneumatic connector, comprises a body having a plurality of bores passing through, each bore surrounded by a sealing member on an inner surface of the body. A plurality of gas lines may be placed within a corresponding bore. A vacuum port is disposed on the inner surface of the body, and an outer seal on the inner surface of the body surrounds the sealing members and the vacuum port. A vacuum line may be placed within the vacuum port, and configured to deliver negative pressure to the vacuum port. A vacuum holding area is created in the volume between the outer seal and each of the sealing members when the inner surface of the body is placed against a substrate. When the vacuum line is activated, a vacuum is created within the vacuum holding area, creating a positive seal between the body and the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2019Date of Patent: August 11, 2020Assignee: EMD Millipore CorporationInventors: Terry Gaige, Andrew Zayac, Paul Sydlowski, Philip Lee

Patent number: 10634590Abstract: Apparatus and method for Immunohistochemistry, including a slide holder assembly fixture, a slide holder, a slide holder frame, and a slide holder frame assembly adapted to be placed in communication with a driving force to draw fluid through the slide holder. The slide holder may include an injection port that allows consistent fluid delivery and recovery, while minimizing the introduction of air bubbles. The slide holder may include a reservoir that allows for filling, soaking, rinsing, flushing, uniform antibody coverage of the tissue and reduces handling time, space, and errors, and one or more sample chambers. The slide orientation in the slide holder allows for visualization of label information and tissue to confirm adequate antibody coverage. A multi-port frame allows multiple assays to be carried out concurrently, and is removable from a vacuum manifold and allows for easy transport from the vacuum manifold to an incubator/refrigerator and back.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2015Date of Patent: April 28, 2020Assignee: EMD Millipore CorporationInventors: Chris Scott, Paul Sydlowski, John Doyle, Ryan Amara, Libby Kellard, Sara Gutierrez, Marc Emerick
