  • Publication number: 20250017639
Abstract: A bone positioning guide may include a main body member, a shaft, and a bone engagement member. The shaft can be movably connected to the main body member and have the bone engagement member rotatably coupled to its distal end. The bone engagement member can have a surface configured to engage a bone. The main body member can also include a tip opposite the bone engagement member for engaging a second bone. In use, the bone engagement member may be positioned in contact with a medial side of a first metatarsal while the tip is positioned in contact with a lateral side of a different metatarsal, such as a second metatarsal. The shaft can then be moved to advance the bone engagement member toward the tip, causing realignment of the first metatarsal.

  • Publication number: 20210382073
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to compositions and methods for identifying a subject at risk for traumatic brain injury. In particular, the instant disclosure is directed to identification of the levels of the proteins MMP-9 (Matrix Metallopeptidase 9), NSE (Neuron Specific Enolase) and VCAM-1 (Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1) in a subject sample, and correlation of these protein levels with the presence of intracranial injury. In certain embodiments, subject age, gender and hemoglobin level are also correlated with the presence of intracranial injury.

  • Publication number: 20200248589
Abstract: A steam turbine may include a casing defining an interior cavity, wherein the casing comprises a first casing half and a second casing half, which are connected to one another to form the casing, wherein an interior surface of the first casing half has a first portion with a first curvature and a second portion with a second curvature, wherein the first curvature and the second curvature are different, and wherein an interior surface of the second casing half has a first portion with a first curvature and a second portion with a second curvature, wherein the first curvature and the second curvature are different. An interior surface of the casing may have a substantially oval-shaped cross-section. Internal pressure acting on the oval interior surface allows better sealing at the split line.

  • Patent number: 5316117
Abstract: A bill validator for evaluating paper articles includes a bill guide for receiving the paper articles. A bill protector validates the received articles corresponding to genuine currency and rejects all other articles. A sensor measures a portion of the article which passes a predetermined position of the bill guide during receiving by the bill guide and further measures the portion of the article and any other articles which pass the predetermined position during rejection. The bill validator is disabled for a predetermined period of time if the measurement of the portion of the article during receiving differs from the measurement taken during rejection. As a result, the bill validator is disabled in the event that a user attempts to remove an article with a rejected article causing the measurement of the received article to differ from the measurement taken during rejection.

Abstract: Electroplating baths suitable for obtaining white deposits of palladium metal. The bath comprises diaminodinitrite, an ammonium salt, and a sufficient amount of ammonium hydroxide to obtain a bath pH of about 9. Buffers such as ammonium biborate may be employed to maintain the necessary bath pH during electroplating operations to produce a thin, white deposit of palladium metal. The process of using such electroplating baths to produce white deposits of palladium metal on substrates is also disclosed and claimed.
