Patent number: 12268397Abstract: A bone cutting guide may include a support that contains a shaft movable relative to the support. The shaft may carry a guide member having one or more cut guides through which a clinician inserts a cutting member to cut bone positioned under the guide cut guides. In operation, a clinician may fixate the support of the bone cutting guide to a bone and translate the guide member until the one or more cut guides are positioned at a desired cut location. The clinician may then perform a cut through the cut guide. In some examples, the bone cutting guide includes additional components, such as bridging member or secondary cut guide, to provide additional functionality.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2024Date of Patent: April 8, 2025Assignee: Treace Medical Concepts, Inc.Inventors: Paul Dayton, Robert D. Santrock, Daniel J. Hatch, W. Bret Smith, Carlos Eduardo Gil, Sean F. Scanlan, Joe William Ferguson, F. Barry Bays, John T. Treace

Publication number: 20250017639Abstract: A bone positioning guide may include a main body member, a shaft, and a bone engagement member. The shaft can be movably connected to the main body member and have the bone engagement member rotatably coupled to its distal end. The bone engagement member can have a surface configured to engage a bone. The main body member can also include a tip opposite the bone engagement member for engaging a second bone. In use, the bone engagement member may be positioned in contact with a medial side of a first metatarsal while the tip is positioned in contact with a lateral side of a different metatarsal, such as a second metatarsal. The shaft can then be moved to advance the bone engagement member toward the tip, causing realignment of the first metatarsal.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2024Publication date: January 16, 2025Inventors: W. Bret Smith, Paul Dayton, Sean F. Scanlan, F. Barry Bays, Carlos Eduardo Gil, John T. Treace, Robert D. Santrock, Daniel J. Hatch, Joe W. Ferguson

Publication number: 20210382073Abstract: The present disclosure relates to compositions and methods for identifying a subject at risk for traumatic brain injury. In particular, the instant disclosure is directed to identification of the levels of the proteins MMP-9 (Matrix Metallopeptidase 9), NSE (Neuron Specific Enolase) and VCAM-1 (Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1) in a subject sample, and correlation of these protein levels with the presence of intracranial injury. In certain embodiments, subject age, gender and hemoglobin level are also correlated with the presence of intracranial injury.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2021Publication date: December 9, 2021Applicants: UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH - OF THE COMMONWEALTH SYSTEM OF HIGHER EDUCATION, AXELA, INC.Inventors: Rachel Berger, Patrick Kochanek, Brian J. Publication number: 20200248589Abstract: A steam turbine may include a casing defining an interior cavity, wherein the casing comprises a first casing half and a second casing half, which are connected to one another to form the casing, wherein an interior surface of the first casing half has a first portion with a first curvature and a second portion with a second curvature, wherein the first curvature and the second curvature are different, and wherein an interior surface of the second casing half has a first portion with a first curvature and a second portion with a second curvature, wherein the first curvature and the second curvature are different. An interior surface of the casing may have a substantially oval-shaped cross-section. Internal pressure acting on the oval interior surface allows better sealing at the split line.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2019Publication date: August 6, 2020Inventor: Paul T. Smith

Patent number: 5316117Abstract: A bill validator for evaluating paper articles includes a bill guide for receiving the paper articles. A bill protector validates the received articles corresponding to genuine currency and rejects all other articles. A sensor measures a portion of the article which passes a predetermined position of the bill guide during receiving by the bill guide and further measures the portion of the article and any other articles which pass the predetermined position during rejection. The bill validator is disabled for a predetermined period of time if the measurement of the portion of the article during receiving differs from the measurement taken during rejection. As a result, the bill validator is disabled in the event that a user attempts to remove an article with a rejected article causing the measurement of the received article to differ from the measurement taken during rejection.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1992Date of Patent: May 31, 1994Assignee: Unidynamics CorporationInventors: Paul K.
