  • Publication number: 20200068290
Abstract: An improved system and method for recognizing an audio signal due to physical activity and taking a predetermined action in response is disclosed. A “reverse noise signal” created by the sound pressure wave of the physical activity acting on the earpiece transducer is obtained. In some embodiments, an ambient noise signal is inverted and fed back, and the inverted signal is added to the intended audio signal being sent to the earpiece so that the ambient noise is cancelled. In other embodiments, a processor receives the ambient noise signal and predicts the modification to the intended audio signal needed to counteract the ambient noise. In other embodiments, the reverse noise signal may represent a motor or biological activity of a user; the system may take different actions in response to different physical activities, such as a heart beat of the user, or a tap, footfall, or swallowing by the user.

  • Publication number: 20200064270
Abstract: A method for identifying minerals and other materials illuminates a mineral with monochromatic light for an illumination duration and collects scattered light using a Raman spectrometer detector and an aggregated or average Raman spectrum data is determined. True Raman spectrum data is determined by subtracting a blank spectrum. The true Raman spectrum data is compared to reference spectrums to identify the mineral or material. A display or output of one or more of: (a) a name and/or chemical composition of one or more identified minerals; (b) the true Raman spectrum data; and (c) the one or more reference spectrums; are provided. The monochromatic light preferably has a wavelength in the range of about 400 nm to about 425 nm and the Raman spectrometer detector is adapted to detect a Raman-shift range of about 100 cm?1 to about 1400 cm?1.

  • Publication number: 20200067164
Abstract: Higher isolation solutions for printed circuit board mounted antenna and waveguide interfaces are provided herein. An example waveguide mounted onto a dielectric substrate can enclose around a periphery of an antenna and contain radiation produced by the antenna along a path that is coaxial with a centerline of the waveguide. The waveguide can have a first portion having a first cross sectional area that is substantially polygonal that transitions to a second cross sectional area that is substantially conical. A shape of the radiation produced by the antenna is altered by the first portion as the radiation propagates through the first portion.

  • Publication number: 20200061880
Abstract: Methods provide for creating a three-dimensional random fiber orientation in a composite component. According to embodiments described herein, narrow flakes are created from a unidirectional composite fiber tape and poured into a reservoir of a mold, creating a three-dimensional random fiber orientation of the narrow flakes within the reservoir. At least a majority of the narrow flakes have an aspect ratio of length to width of at least 6:1. The narrow flakes are heated and compressed to fill the mold and create the composite component. The three-dimensional random fiber orientation of the narrow flakes within the reservoir is maintained as the narrow flakes are pushed through the mold, creating consistent, uniform strength characteristics throughout the resulting composite component.
