    Abstract: The invention provides a concept for measuring, classifying and ranking the success of an artist in web based music industry based on their performance across digital media platforms and social networks. The concept comprises obtaining by a centralized online platform, for an artist, play count data from digital music streaming and download services and fan count data from social media networks. The play count data indicate a count of interactions by users of the third party online platform with content of the artist that is stored on the third party online platform. The fan count data indicate a count of links between content of the artist that is stored on the third party online platform and users of the third party online platform. Based on the data obtained from third party platforms, numerical scores, such as an Artist Growth or Artist Growth Score, that indicate how a music artist is performing is calculated and compared to their performance against a group of their peers.
