  • Patent number: 5161938
Abstract: An automatic supply and loading device for container blanks such as gable top containers including storage magazines for storing therein the blanks in a flat collapsed form at a location away from the main magazines from which the blanks are individually transferred to later processes in a liquid food charging machine. A robot with a pair of grasping claws is provided between the main magazines and the storage magazines so that the robot carries the blanks between the magazines and loads and unloads the blanks in and from the magazines. The main magazines can be inclined at the same angle as the angle of inclination of the robot for securing smooth loading and unloading of the blanks.

  • Patent number: 5048267
Abstract: A cutting apparatus and opening method for a rectangular package covered with packaging material includes a platform for positioning a rectangular package. Spacing members are provided for forming a space between the packaging material and the packaged items on two mutually opposing planes of the package on the platform. A pair of cutting blades are mounted for cutting the packaging material from one edge to the other in the direction of height or width where a space is formed between the packaging material and the packaged items by the spacing members. A pair of cutting blades are also mounted for cutting the packaging material from one of the two edges other than the edges passing the starting point and the finishing point of each of the two cutting lines cut by the pair of cutting blades to the above-memtioned cutting lines.

  • Patent number: 5033975
Abstract: A method and device are disclosed for raising rimpled and flattened parallelepipedic blanks to form rectangular parallelepipeds. A supply of flattened parallelepipedic blanks are rolled out in a first rolling direction through a pair of discharging rollers. Pressure is imparted on the flattened parallelepipedic blanks in a direction opposite to the first rolling direction by means of a pusher for opening the blank to nearly 180.degree. in a direction perpendicular to the rolling direction. The pusher is thereafter retracted in the first rolling direction to raise the blank to form a rectangular parallelepiped with a substantially square-shaped cross section. The formed blanks are thereafter unloaded from the device.

  • Patent number: 5011467
Abstract: A transport device for packaging container blanks includes a platform for positioning a package of a plurality of flattened packaging container blanks covered with packaging material disposed around the plurality of flattened packaging container blanks. A cutting device is provided for cutting the packaging material disposed around the plurality of flattened packaging container blanks to expose the flattened packaging container blanks for further processing. A main magazine is provided for stacking the plurality of bare blanks after removal of the packaging material. The main magazine supplies individual bare blanks, one at a time to a subsequent processing station. A robot includes a grasping member for grasping a predetermined number of bare blanks disposed on the platform and delivering the bare blanks to the main magazine.

  • Patent number: 4908091
Abstract: A splicing device for packaging webs comprises a dual magazine shiftable between an on-line position and a stand-by position. Both magazines can hold a web. When the web held in the on-line position is exhausted, the magazine is shifted and the web from the stand-by position can be used while the exhausted web is replaced. A joining unit is provided for each magazine to connect the end of an exhausted web with the end of a new web. A cutting unit is positioned at the on-line position for cutting a web in use whereby a new web may be joined thereto in an aligned manner. A feeding unit is provided upstream of the cutting unit and includes a crease wheel for feeding and folding the web. Another cutting unit is provided upstream of the feeding unit for severing the web in desired package lengths. The splicing device enables rapid joining of webs with a minimum of labor.
