  • Patent number: 4591167
Abstract: A slide ring seal for sealing a machine component relative to a pressurized media. A slide ring is provided which is axially slidably mountable on the machine component. A bellows is arranged for surrounding an axial portion of the machine component. The bellows has one axial end connected with the slide ring and a second axial end. The bellows includes a sealing member at the second axial end for sealing the machine component with respect to the pressurized media. The bellows has a region between the slide ring and the sealing member which, in a relaxed state of the bellows, has a shape approximately corresponding to the contour of the region that will develop when the bellows is subjected to operating pressures in an installed state of the slide ring seal. A compression spring is arranged to be concentrically mounted on the machine component with respect to the slide ring and the bellows and is disposed between the slide ring and the sealing member.

  • Patent number: 4558872
Abstract: A slide ring seal assembly for installation on a shaft includes an axially displaceable slide ring; an elastic collar arranged coaxially with the slide ring and being in engagement with the slide ring for providing a static seal between the slide ring and the shaft, and a helical compression spring having opposite first and second ends. The compression spring is arranged coaxially with the slide ring and the elastic collar and exerts a radial force on the shaft with at least one first spring turn. The second end is situated at the slide ring and is operatively connected therewith for axially urging the slide ring towards a counterring in the installed state of the assembly. At the second spring end at least one second turn surrounds the slide ring with a radial bias and further, the compression spring axially presses, with at least one third turn, the free end face of the slide ring with the intermediary of the elastic collar.

  • Patent number: 4531483
Abstract: A lip sealing ring including a cylindrical elastic body having a sealing lip at one end and an attachment portion at the other end and a cylindrical reinforcing member having a first portion which includes an end face, a second portion having a smaller diameter than the first portion, and a shoulder portion joining the first and second portions. The reinforcing member surrounds the attachment portion and has only its inside surface bonded to the attachment portion. The reinforcing member is positioned such that the end face is located toward the sealing lip.

  • Patent number: 4436314
Abstract: A slide ring seal having a slide ring with a central axis and a circumferential face; a tubular sleeve member including a member overlapping at least a portion of the circumferential face of the slide ring and an adhering part integral with the bellows and extending axially from the slide ring along the central axis; and a compression spring approximately conical in configuration positioned within the tubular sleeve member having at least three spring turns positioned in different radial planes with respect to the central axis at least two of said spring turns having different diameters, and wherein the spring turns having the smallest and largest diameter cooperate with the adhering part and that portion of the bellows which overlaps the slide ring to radially bias the slide ring seal in opposite directions.

  • Patent number: 4346684
Abstract: A sintered valve seat ring having excellent resistance to wear, to corrosion and to thermal stresses, and a method for its production. The ring comprises a supporting portion made up of an iron or steel alloy and a facing portion, subject to wear, of a cobalt and/or nickel alloy. The supporting portion comprises up to 30% by weight of the alloy of the facing portion.

  • Patent number: 4084826
Abstract: A shaft seal ring has a resilient sealing lip provided with a contact face oriented at an inclined angle with respect to the seal ring axis. The contact face includes a sealing edge for circumferentially engaging the surface of a shaft on which the shaft seal ring is mounted. The contact face has a plurality of circumferentially disposed ribs oriented at alternatingly opposite inclination with respect to the sealing edge. Any adjoining, oppositely inclined two ribs meeting in a point of intersection on the sealing edge form first rib pairs. A second rib pair is provided in the area bounded by the one and the other rib of each first rib pair; the one and the other rib forming each second rib pair terminates on, and is oppositely inclined with respect to, the one and the other rib of the associated first rib pair.
