  • Patent number: 4660516
Abstract: An engine comprises a combustion chamber and a fuel transfer passage having a fuel outlet port communicating with the combustion chamber. A primary fuel delivery system communicates with the combustion chamber and introduces fuel from the fuel source into the combustion chamber. The engine further comprises a fuel pump which is adapted to be connected with a source of fuel and a fuel return line having a first end communicating with the source. A mechanism selectively controls the communication of the fuel pump with either the fuel return line or the fuel transfer passage, so that an enriched flow of fuel can be selectively supplied to the combustion chamber prior to and after starting.

  • Patent number: 4620607
Abstract: An air silencer for an internal combustion engine including a fuel hose and an intake manifold supporting a carburetor, the carburetor including an end including a carburetor intake. The air silencer comprises a base member including a first opening, a second opening adapted for extension therethrough of the carburetor, and an opening for passage into the air silencer of the fuel hose, and the base member is mounted on the intake manifold independently of the carburetor. The air silencer also comprises a cover member removably mounted on the base member, and a baffle member removably mounted between the base member and the cover member to form a silencing chamber between the cover member and the baffle member, the baffle member including an opening adapted to communicate with the carburetor intake, and a silencer tube communicating between the first opening in the base member and the silencing chamber.

  • Patent number: 4599979
Abstract: The two-cycle internal combustion engine has a sump in a lower portion of the crankcase for collecting engine fuel drains and a crankshaft bearing lubrication system including a first conduit means connecting the upper crankshaft bearing in communication with the engine intake manifold, second conduit means connecting the upper crankshaft bearing in liquid communication with the sump and having an intermediate portion or reservoir, and third conduit means connecting the crankcase in communication with the reservoir. A first check valve located between the sump and the reservoir permits fuel drains to flow from the sump upwardly toward the upper crankshaft bearing in response to a suction created in response to the low pressure or vacuum in the intake manifold and prevents backflow from the reservoir to the sump.

  • Patent number: 4327041
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a carburetor including a housing having a throat, means for supplying fuel to the throat intermediate its opposite ends, the fuel supplying means including a tube extending into the throat and including a plurality of fuel supply openings spaced along its length. A pivotable throttle member is positioned in the throat intermediate its opposite ends and is pivotable between a fluid flow restricting position and an open position. The pivotable throttle member includes a cam surface. The carburetor is also constructed such that an increased number of the openings supply fuel to the throat as the throttle member pivots from a fluid flow restricting position to an open position and the openings are closed as the throttle member pivots from an open position to a fluid flow restricting position.
