  • Patent number: 4399920
Abstract: A child resistant package comprising an open-mouth plastic container and a closure. The container has a plurality of circumferentially spaced projections extending radially outwardly adjacent the open end thereof, each projection having a shoulder facing downwardly in one circumferential direction. A closure has a top panel and an annular skirt depending from the periphery of the top panel and a plurality of radially inwardly extending and circumferentially spaced locking lugs on the inner surface of the skirt. The locking lugs are adapted to engage the shoulders in the projections on the container. The closure has a liner sealingly engaging the open end of the container and extending downwardly into sealing engagement with the inner surface of the upper open end of the container. The closure has at least one cam lug positioned on the inner surface of the skirt such that it is positioned between projections when the closure is on the container and the locking lugs are in engagement with the projections.

  • Patent number: 4140411
Abstract: An improved, preassembled ball-type dispensing package combination for cosmetics and the like. A ball is held in place in a fitment which is adapted to be attached to the finish portion of a container for the product to be dispensed. The ball is allowed to move freely within the fitment to facilitate uniform dispensing and application of the contents of the container. The total package is completed by a closure which engages threads on the exterior of the finish portion of the container. The fitment and closure include engaging portions which are adapted to retain the fitment in a preassembled position within the closure for shipping and handling. However, when the combination closure, fitment and ball are placed in engagement with the container finish portion, the retentive engagement between the fitment and the closure may be overcome to allow the fitment and ball to remain on the container when the closure is removed.

  • Patent number: 4002411
Abstract: An improved ball dispensing package combination for liquid cosmetics and the like. A ball is held in place in a fitment which is attached to the finish portion of a container for the product to be dispensed. The ball is allowed to move freely within the fitment to allow dispensing. The total package is completed by a closure which engages threads on the exterior of the finish portion. The closure has an internal downwardly depending sealing ring which engages the upper rim of the fitment as the closure is tightened. Simultaneously, the lower portion of an internal cavity of the closure engages the ball at its maximum chordal dimension. The ball does not touch the upper portion of the internal cavity, so any material on the ball does not tend to stick to the closure.
