Publication number: 20240103301Abstract: A head-mounted display may include a display system and an optical system in a housing. The display system may have displays that produce images. Positioners may be used to move the displays relative to the eye positions of a user's eyes. An adjustable optical system may include tunable lenses such as tunable cylindrical liquid crystal lenses. The displays may be viewed through the lenses when the user's eyes are at the eye positions. A sensor may be incorporated into the head-mounted display to measure refractive errors in the user's eyes. The sensor may include waveguides and volume holograms, and a camera for gathering light that has reflected from the retinas of the user's eyes. Viewing comfort may be enhanced by adjusting display positions relative to the eye positions and/or by adjusting lens settings based on the content being presented on the display and/or measured refractive errors.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Victoria C. Patent number: 7121395Abstract: A torque disconnect mechanism controls transmission of torque from a first shaft to a second shaft in a transmission. The mechanism includes a housing which rotatably supports the first and second shafts, and which has an opening formed therein. A coupling member is movable from an engaged position wherein the coupling member couples the first shaft with the second shaft to a disengaged position wherein the first and second shafts are uncoupled from each other. A plug member is mountable in the opening and is engagable with the coupling member. The plug member is movable from a first position holding the coupling member in its engaged position to a second position holding the coupling member in its disengaged position.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2002Date of Patent: October 17, 2006Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Thomas G. Ore, Paul W. Johnson, John C. Gogola

Patent number: 6076543Abstract: The invention achieves these and other objects by providing a gas handling device that includes an elongate track having a pair of laterally spaced and longitudinally extending channels extending generally along the length of the track. The device further includes a plurality of gas handling units which are slidably mounted along the length of the track and selectively securable thereon without requiring alteration to the track or the units. Spool pieces and supports therefor are coupled to the first and last gas handling unit mounted on the track to establish communication with field tubing to deliver and remove a flow of process gas to and from the gas handling units. A method for mounting gas handling units on the device is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1997Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Assignee: United States Filter CorporationInventor: Paul W. Patent number: 5807099Abstract: When a dental patient is having one or more of his or her front teeth aesthetically improved, when a dentist cements thereon a porcelain veneer, which becomes a porcelain laminate extending across the front surface of the patient's tooth, the method steps followed and the equipment used have been improved. The improvements center both on obtaining more quickly and more accurately a noble metal foil matrix, which conforms to the front surface of the front tooth die of the patient, and on applying the porcelain ceramic slurry on the conformed noble metal material, to compensate for the shrinking of the porcelain during the firing thereof. The improved equipment is a forming machine which utilizes a constant pressure source of compressed air to move a piston in a cylinder, with the piston moving one metal die to contact another metal die, each die having an aligned rubber insert, and each rubber insert having an alike aligned receiving space.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1995Date of Patent: September 15, 1998Inventor: Paul W. Patent number: 5501600Abstract: The present invention provides a method wherein a noble metal foil matrix, which conforms to the front tooth die of a patient, and a porcelain ceramic slurry, which will be applied to the metal matrix, are quickly and accurately obtained. The improved method of providing the porcelain ceramic slurry involves leaving a central area of the noble metal foil matrix uncovered during a first firing period to obtain the first layer of porcelain veneer. Leaving this initial area uncovered compensates for the shrinkage of the porcelain during the first firing period.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1994Date of Patent: March 26, 1996Inventor: Paul W. Patent number: 5012416Abstract: A microprocessor controlling a shuttle shift transmission may be programmed while the gearshift lever is in neutral to preselect a forward and reverse gear into which the transmission is shifted when the gearshift lever is moved to a forward or reverse position. The microprocessor may also be programmed so that, in shifting between forward and reverse, the forward and reverse gears selected differ by a preprogrammed amount. The microprocessor may be programmed to control vehicle deceleration by selecting gears in the transmission so that the transmission and/or the vehicle engine become a load for decelerating the vehicle. In a diagnostic mode, the microprocessor executes a routine to develop a clutch calibration value which may later be used to insure uniformity of clutch operation in different vehicles, or in the same vehicle over a period of time. The normal speed ratio matching which normally takes place when shifting gears may be manually overridden by operator manipulation of the gearshift lever.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1989Date of Patent: April 30, 1991Assignees: Ford New Holland, Inc., Deere & CompanyInventors: Garth H. Patent number: 4037072Abstract: Small electrical resistors, such as are used in circuits of comparatively low power, are automatically fabricated on a winding machine including a chuck assembly for facilitating the start and finish of a winding operation. The chuck assembly consists of a first jaw rotatably mounted with respect to a second jaw from a wire receiving position to a wire gripping position. The chuck is closed to grip a resistance wire at the start of a winding operation and an automatic welder operates to weld the wire to a metallic terminal cap positioned at one end of a resistor core. Upon completion of the welding operation, the jaws of the chuck assembly are opened and a winding head operates to rotate the resistor core to begin a winding operation. The winding operation continues for a preset number of turns at which time the jaws of the chuck assembly are moved to a closed position to clamp the resistance wire.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1975Date of Patent: July 19, 1977Assignee: E-Systems, Inc.Inventor: Paul W.
