  • Publication number: 20210327580
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for stratifying a patient with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The method comprises detecting the presence, absence, or abundance of multiple bacteria in a biological sample obtained from the patient to generate a patient microbiome profile; and operating a trained classifier on the patient microbiome profile to output a signal stratifying the patient with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) into a first group or a second group. Stratification of the patient into the first group is indicative that the patient has a not significantly altered microbiome in comparison to the average microbiome not indicative of IBS. Stratification of the patient into the second group is indicative that the patient has an altered microbiome in comparison to the average microbiome not indicative of IBS.

  • Patent number: 8425771
Abstract: A portable device for filtering and purifying water comprised of an outer chamber and an inner chamber that is slidable within a section of the outer chamber, and a small pore size pre-filter, whereby water is drawn through the pre-filter into the first container section of the outer chamber where it is isolated and treated with a disinfectant agent, then is drawn out of the first container section and into the second container section, and then into the inner chamber, where it is passed across another filtering material such as an activated carbon bed, removing any remaining contaminants before the potable water exits through a mouthpiece.
