  • Patent number: 5314960
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel copolymers and contact lenses made from these copolymers comprising preformed silicone-containing acrylic star polymers, graft copolymers and macromonomers, preparation of these contact lenses and a therapeutic method for treating patients with visual impairment.Described is a composition comprising at least about 10% by weight of a preformed silicone-containing acrylic copolymer and no more than about 90% by weight of a matrix formed from the random polymerization of a mixture of monomers. The mixture of monomers comprises at least one hydrophilic monomer and optionally, monomers selected from the group consisting of silicone acrylates, esters of alpha, beta-unsaturated acids and crosslinking monomers. The preformed silicone-containing acrylic copolymer is preferably copolymerized throughout the matrix. The final compositions are hydrated to a final water content of at least about 10% by weight.

  • Patent number: 5035565
Abstract: A hinge bar connector assembly to connect spaced apart and separate ramps to a flat bed trailer of the type commonly known as a "hot shot" trailer of a semi-truck and trailer combination. Such trailers have spaced apart sockets or receiving channels around the peripheral edges of the trailer, including along both sides as well as along the front edge and the rear edge. The connector assembly in accordance with this invention has a first connecting member with two spaced apart legs to seat in a pair of adjacent receiving channels or sockets which support a pair of laterally spaced apart hinges and a removable hinge rod on which one end of a ramp having a connectable hinge member is pivotally connected. It also has a second identical connecting member seated in a pair of adjacent receiving channels or sockets which are spaced apart from the first connecting member to which a second ramp having a connectable hinge member is pivotally connected.

  • Patent number: 4280388
Abstract: The operation of the chorus generator of FIG. 3 may be summarized as follows. The generation of a realistic chorus tone depends upon the simultaneous amplitude and phase modulation of a tone signal which initially has little or no choral characteristics. When a tone signal generator is so modulated, the derived audio tone from a loudspeaker will exhibit choral characteristics. A random low frequency signal generator serves as an input to both the amplitude and phase modulation channels. The amplitude modulation signal is merely a suitably delayed replica of the low frequency signal. The phase modulation signal is derived from the low frequency signal by first modifying its amplitude excursions by means of a function generator and then filtering the derived signal by means of a suitable non-minimum phase shift filter.

  • Patent number: 4089265
Abstract: A flexographic printing roll comprising a rigid base tube having perforations in the form of a plurality of small apertures and a circumferentially stretchable, elastomeric, seamless printing sleeve on said tube strained to grip the tube to retain the sleeve securely on the tube; in which there is provided means on the tube to aid the sliding of the sleeve on the tube. The said means may comprise a circumferential seal which can be pressurized to press on the sleeve and expand it. The said means may comprise an expandable metal segment seal. The said means may comprise a tapering sleeve through which means are provided for applying reducing pressures at points along the surface of the tapering sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4078801
Abstract: A puck for playing an ice hockey-like game, on untraditional surfaces, is provided with a generally cylindrical body of foam rubber or the like. Two smaller-diameter disks or end plates of glide material are secured coaxially therewith on respective opposite ends of the body. Several ways of connecting the disks and main body together are disclosed, including ones calling for adhesives, spin welding and ultrasonic welding. In some instances, a provision is made within the main body and between the end disks to receive weights. A way is disclosed for installing a selected amount of internal weighting after the disks and main body have been secured together.

  • Patent number: 3997164
Abstract: A road hockey puck comprising discs attached to both sides of a larger resilient central member for guiding the resilient and more friction prone member over a hard surface. Several embodiments are disclosed for attaching the discs to the resilient member including a spool having a male member and a female member and a resilient member surrounding a portion of the spool. The male member comprises a disc having a shaft secured thereto and the female member comprises a disc having a sleeve. The shaft is constructed to be removably secured in the sleeve so that the shaft means and sleeve means can be placed through an aperture in the resilient member to hold the resilient member to the spool. The resilient member has a diameter greater than the discs of the male and female members so that it extends past the outer rim of the discs.
