  • Publication number: 20220200093
Abstract: Systems and methods associated with a battery for a micromobility transit vehicle are provided. A micromobility transit vehicle may include a frame and a battery disposed at least partially in the frame. The battery may include a housing and a ventilation assembly. The ventilation assembly may include a vent cap releasably coupled to the housing, and a breather plug connected to the vent cap and including a membrane configured to pass air between the housing and an external environment, such as to equalize a pressure within the housing with an external environment. The vent cap may be configured to mechanically release from the housing to vent internal gases out of the battery in response to a pressure within the housing, such as in response to a pressure exceeding a threshold.

  • Publication number: 20130164578
Abstract: A modular battery module that includes a plurality of substantially identical cartridges, a chassis, and a compression member, wherein each cartridge includes a heat sink with a thermal management channel; a prismatic cell coupled to the heat sink; and a first and a second manifold fluidly coupled to the thermal management channel, wherein the first and second manifolds form opposing edges of a frame, wherein the frame supports the edges of the heat sink. The plurality of cartridges is coupled together in the thickness direction to form a stack with a first and a second end. The chassis is formed from a first end plate, a second end plate, and the plurality of frames, wherein the first and second end plates cap the ends of the stack. The compression member couples the end plates and cartridges together, wherein the compression member applies a compressive force over a face of the batteries.

  • Publication number: 20110262785
Abstract: A battery module that includes a battery unit composed of a plurality of flat cells and having an end face, a container with an end piece that encloses the battery unit, and a damping assembly disposed between the end face and the end piece. The damping assembly includes a pressure plate, coupled to the end face, that distributes a force substantially equally over the end face. The damping assembly further includes a damping mechanism that damps battery unit oscillations within the container and applies the force to the pressure plate. Coupling the end plate to the damping mechanism compresses the damping mechanism, and causes the damping mechanism to exert a reactionary force against the pressure plate. Furthermore, the damping assembly compresses and substantially suspends the battery unit within the container, such that one face of the battery unit does not substantially contact the container interior.
