  • Patent number: 5529615
Abstract: A composition of a wax-based vehicle, suspension medium, and pigment particles to provide a marking material having a substantially uniform suspension of pigment particles and a method for its manufacture. The marking material includes a wax-based vehicle, a suspension matrix, and, if desired, a particulate suspending agent. The suspension matrix is formed by mixing together a long flow viscosity modifier and at least one short flow viscosity modifier. The particulate suspending agent is typically a micronized particulate substrate. The pigment particles impart phosphorescent or other desirable marking effects.

  • Patent number: 5453120
Abstract: An erasable marking material with a wax-based vehicle having a substantially uniform suspension of filler particles and pigment particles and a method for its manufacture. The wax-based vehicle is composed of a base wax and at least one supplemental wax. The wax-based vehicle has an oil content of up to about 10 percent by weight. The wax-based vehicle and suspended filler particles exhibit anti-settling properties for the suspension of fluorescent particles. The pigment particles impart luminescent properties to the marker. When rubbed across a surface, the marker deposits the wax-based vehicle and fluorescent particles to producing an erasable luminescent mark.

  • Patent number: 5116533
Abstract: A non-toxic moldable phosphorescent marker has phosphorescent pigment particles that are suspended in a milled mixture of an inert filler and a wax blend base. The phosphorescent pigment particles, which impart luminescent properties to the marker, are excited by light. The composition of the marker is such that it leaves a strip of phosphorescent marking material on a surface against which the marker is rubbed. The deposited material contains the suspended phosphorescent particles, which luminesces when excited by light.
