    Abstract: The infant transitional sensory system provides a hammock which may be supported in any of various positions from a deep pocket to a relatively flat or spread position to receive an infant thereon. It includes a sonic device that may be received on and attached to the sheet for generating audible and vibrational impulses simulating the human heart beat. The sheet preferably is of a soft, textured, flexible material, the system providing an enriched environment and substantial tactile kinesthetic stimulation for the newborn to stimulate the normal, full development of the child's primary sensory systems in a uniquely effective, simple fashion.

    Abstract: A patient comfort and convenience device for use in conjunction with a hospital bed having a mattress disposed between a spaced headboard and footboard and a mechanized drive for raising and lowering the mattress. There is a first support structure disposed between the footboard and the mattress, the first support structure including a pair of spaced vertical first members disposed at respective ones of a pair of foot corners of the mattress. There is also a second support structure disposed between the headboard and the mattress, the second support structure including a pair of spaced vertical second members disposed at respective ones of a pair of head corners of the mattress. A pair of rigid side rails are disposed between respective ones of the first and second members along and above upper side edges of the mattress. A fabric sling is disposed between the side rails.

    Abstract: A combined bathtub and bassinet structure is disclosed that includes a collapsible X-frame which when opened will receive and support either a bathtub or a bassinet. Both the bathtub and bassinet generally are of rectangular form, made of flexible material, and when supported on the frame have opposed ends and sidewalls to which is attached a bottom wall. At least the bassinet includes an upper and a lower bottom wall in a vertically spaced relationship, and an opening in one of the upright walls to permit a reinforcing panel to be inserted between the upper and lower bottom walls. The bassinet includes a water bed type mattress preferably with a heating element to maintain it at a body temperature. The bassinet also may include sound-producing means to mimic heart sounds.
