  • Patent number: 10758745
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating a radiation therapy treatment plan by using ultrasound images are disclosed. The method includes obtaining a first set of image data representing a first image of an anatomical region that includes a treatment applicator inserted into the anatomical region. The method further includes receiving tracking information indicating a position of the treatment applicator as represented in the first set of image data, obtaining a second set of image data representing a second image of the anatomical region, and combining at least a portion of the first set of image data with the second set of image data. One of the first set and the second set of image data is used to identify a target tissue portion in the anatomical region. The method further includes generating, based on the combined image data, treatment plan information for treating the target tissue portion in the anatomical region.

  • Patent number: 10668299
Abstract: A brachytherapy system includes a brachytherapy applicator. The brachytherapy applicator includes an applicator tube and a radiation source configured to deliver radiation to a tumor. At least a portion of the applicator tube is configured to conform to at least a portion of a patient's anatomy. At least one ultrasound element or probe is coupled to or embedded with the applicator tube.

  • Patent number: 9662511
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure are drawn to methods of forming an applicator body of an applicator for insertion into an anatomical cavity of a patient for delivering a treatment to the patient. In some instances, the method may include receiving a first three-dimensional image of the anatomical cavity, which was generated while the anatomical cavity contained an expandable container adjacent a tissue region of the patient, and while the expandable container was filled with fluid such that the container was expanded to substantially conform to the shape of at least a portion of the tissue region. The method also may include isolating, from the first three-dimensional image, a first sub-image corresponding to an image of the filled expanded container. The method further may include using the first sub-image as a design template for forming the applicator body for use with the patient.

  • Publication number: 20140114115
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to a method for reconstructing a spatial position of a conduit arranged to accommodate a radiotherapeutic radioactive source. The method includes displacing an object emitting radiation inside the conduit prior to the administration of a treatment, detecting said radiation using detectors; generating data upon detecting the said radiation using a processor; and reconstructing the spatial position of the conduit by the processor based on the said data to identify a delivery path of the treatment.
