  • Patent number: 7980723
Abstract: The elongate luminaire for creating colored illumination has a plane of symmetry S in which lamp holders (6,7) are present to accommodate lamps of different colors. A first and a second opposite concave reflector (1,2) have elongate flat facets (11,12,13,14; 21,22,23,24). A third reflector (5) bridging the first and the second reflector (1,2) is present opposite a light-emission window (4). The luminaire is capable of providing evenly colored illumination without the need for a diffuser.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 21, 2007
Date of Patent: July 19, 2011
    Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.
    Inventor: Paulus G. H. Kosters
  • Patent number: 7950830
Abstract: An illumination system for illuminating a display device includes a conical reflector associated with the light source for illuminating a light-exit window. The reflector is arranged for reflecting light emitted by the light source towards the light-exit window and is radially segmented into a plurality of reflector-cone segments, each including at least one convex-cone segment being convex shaped in a lateral direction with respect to a source axis for lateral distribution of light emitted by the light source over the light-exit window.

  • Publication number: 20090303708
Abstract: An illumination system comprising at least two closely arranged light sources, each emitting a unique light spectrum during operation, and an optical system (1). The optical system comprises a light guide (4) with an incoupling face (6) and an outcoupling face (7). The optical system further comprises a mirroring transition part (8) connecting the outcoupling face of the light guide with a transparent light extraction panel (9). The transparent light extraction panel has an extraction structure (11) for outcoupling of light to the exterior. The light guide and the extraction means are specular reflective, the mirror preferably being about specular reflective. Compared to the known illumination systems the illumination system of the invention is both relatively efficient and has an improved control of the light beam.
