  • Patent number: 9848369
Abstract: Various embodiments include a device processor that may monitor a data loss from a broadcast data stream received by a radio frequency (RF) resource of a multi-subscription multi-standby (MSMS) communication device using a first subscription. In response to determining that an amount of the monitored data loss plus an amount of expected data loss from anticipated tune-aways to a second subscription and a third subscription does not meet a first data loss threshold, the device processor may determine whether an amount of the monitored data loss plus an amount of expected data loss from an anticipated tune-away to a third subscription meets a second data loss threshold. The device processor may prevent the tune-away to the third subscription in response to determining that the amount of the monitored data loss plus the expected data loss from the anticipated tune-away to the third subscription meets the second data loss threshold.

  • Patent number: 9787430
Abstract: Dynamic forward error correction (FEC) setting is discussed in which the network determines a FEC percentage for each video segment of a video streaming service, based on consideration of the transfer length of the video segment and the allocated bandwidth. When the transfer length and allocated bandwidth reflect transmission of less than peak bandwidth, the network will determine a higher FEC percentage that uses the otherwise wasted bandwidth to transmit additional redundancy symbols. The additional redundancy symbols increase the error recovery rate when collisions occur between streaming video reception and page monitoring occasions of other networks in multi-network, multi-subscriber identification module (SIM) mobile devices. A network entity may then transmit the dynamic FEC percentage for each video segment in the file description table (FDT) associated with the video streaming service.

  • Publication number: 20170223589
Abstract: Various embodiments include multi-subscription multi-standby (MSMS) communication devices and methods for managing reception of data using a first subscription following a tune-away by a radio frequency (RF) resource chain from the first subscription to a second subscription. In various embodiments the MSMS communication device may receive data over the first subscription during a warm-up period of the RF resource chain following completion of the tune-away. In some embodiments, the device processor may receive the data over the first subscription during the warm-up period using one or more channel parameters of the first subscription determined before the tune-away. In some embodiments, the device processor may receive data over the first subscription during the warm-up period using one or more channel parameters of the first subscription determined initially during the warm-up period.

  • Publication number: 20160381700
Abstract: Embodiments include methods to manage tune-away events on a multi-subscription multi-standby wireless communication device having an RF resource supporting a first subscription and a second subscription by changing an order of Multicast Traffic Channel (MTCH) transmissions across a number of Multicast Channel Scheduling Periods (MSPs). In various embodiments, the order of MTCH transmissions may be changed by rotating the Logical Channel Identifier (LCID) order in a Multicast Channel (MCH) Scheduling Information (MSI) Media Access Control (MAC) message sent from a serving base station or tower (e.g., a serving Evolved Node B (eNB)) to a multi-subscription multi-standby wireless communication device. In various embodiments, a multi-subscription, multi-standby wireless communication device may activate a MTCH for one or more service according to the dynamic MSI MAC message.
