  • Patent number: 11388079
Abstract: A monitoring solution allows for testing of forwarding states on network devices. In a particular example, an agent on a router A directs a probe packet to a first neighbor device. The first neighbor device reflects the probe back to the router A. The reflected probe packet undergoes a forwarding state lookup similar to other network traffic and is routed to a second neighbor network device. The second neighbor network device reflects the probe back to router A, which can then intercept the packet and redirect it to an agent on router A for verification whether the lookup was performed correctly.

  • Patent number: 9803983
Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing an improved heading estimate of a mobile device in a vehicle is presented. First, the mobile device determines if it is mounted in a cradle attached to the vehicle; if so, inertia sensor data may be valid. While in a mounted stated, the mobile device determines whether it has been rotated in the cradle; if so, inertia sensor data may no longer be reliable and a recalibration to determine a new relative orientation between the vehicle and the mobile device is needed. If the mobile device is mounted and not recently rotated, heading data from multiple sensors (e.g., GPS, gyroscope, accelerometer) may be computed and combined to form the improved heading estimate. This improved heading estimate may be used to form an improved velocity estimate. The improved heading estimate may also be used to compute a bias to correct a gyroscope.

  • Patent number: 9094864
Abstract: Architecture for performing WLAN offload in a wireless device is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes an application section configured to form IP packets from data to be transmitted, a modem section configured to apply a cellular protocol to the IP packets to form cellular protocol packets, an endpoint configured to encapsulate the cellular protocol packets to form outer IP tunnel packets, and a WLAN interface configured to transmit the outer IP tunnel packets over a WLAN communication channel. In another exemplary embodiment, an apparatus includes a WLAN interface configured to receive outer IP tunnel packets over a WLAN communication channel, an endpoint configured to extract cellular protocol packets from the outer IP tunnel packets, a modem processor configured to remove a cellular protocol from the cellular protocol packets to form IP packets, and an application processor configured to extract received data from the IP packets.

  • Patent number: 8289861
Abstract: In a method for managing quality of service (QoS) resources during handoff across communication systems having different grades of QoS awareness, an access terminal (AT) determines that handoff has occurred from a QoS unaware system to a QoS aware system. The AT also determines whether there are any allocated, unrequested QoS resources. If one or more allocated, unrequested QoS resources are identified, the AT requests that the QoS aware system release the one or more allocated, unrequested QoS resources. The AT also determines whether there are any requested, unallocated QoS resources. If one or more requested, unallocated QoS resources are identified, the AT requests that the QoS aware system allocate the one or more requested, unallocated QoS resources to the application.
