    Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for investigating samples of materials subjected to high centrifugal forces, generally in excess of 5.times.10.sup.5 g. The sample is encapsulated in a closed microvessel that serves as a magnetic or magnetizable rotor. The centrifuge provides a rotating magnetic field that drives the microvessel to very high speed, thus subjecting the sample to centrifugation. An optical system coupled with the driving system allows for viewing the sample during rotation.
