Abstract: Devices and approaches for activating cross-linking within corneal tissue to stabilize and strengthen the corneal tissue following an eye therapy treatment. A feedback system is provided to acquire measurements and pass feedback information to a controller. The feedback system may include an interferometer system, a corneal polarimetry system, or other configurations for monitoring cross-linking activity within the cornea. The controller is adapted to analyze the feedback information and adjust treatment to the eye based on the information. Aspects of the feedback system may also be used to monitor and diagnose features of the eye 1. Methods of activating cross-linking according to information provided by a feedback system in order to improve accuracy and safety of a cross-linking therapy are also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are method(s) and device(s) capable of generating a small lesion as deep as a few millimeters beneath the skin's surface and several cubic millimeters in volume in orders of magnitude less time, namely, tens of milliseconds. More specifically, in one exemplary embodiment, a method of treating tissue (e.g., skin) is provided which includes generating one or more ultrasound pulses with each pulse having a pulse width shorter than a thermal relaxation time of a tissue treatment volume, and applying one or more of said ultrasound pulses to at least one portion of the tissue treatment volume to generate one or more treatment areas in a region. Methods of treating tissue can include effecting a therapeutic treatment in said region of the tissue, and/or effecting a cosmetic treatment in said target region.

Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for treatment of tissue, such as skin tissue, using acoustic energy, such as ultrasound. The ultrasound can be used for various purposes include hair removal and permanent hair reduction, removal of tattoos, and other cosmetic procedures. In some embodiments, ultrasound is produced using an optical-to-acoustic converter, and, in some embodiments, ultrasound is focused.
