Abstract: Stacks of blanks (10) comprising a largish number of pre-fabricated blanks made of (thin) cardboard are usually made available on pallets (12). The stacks of blanks (10), provided if necessary with a band label (11), are aligned on the pallet (12) in rows (13) and disposed in a plurality of layers (16) the one above the other. A pick-up head (18) serves to unload the stacks and is movable on a support structure (19), configured like a portal, in a vertical and in a horizontal direction. The pick-up head (18) grasps respectively one group of stacks of blanks (10) and sets same down on an onward conveyor (14).

Abstract: Handling apparatus, in particular a telescopic cylinder having at least one retractable and extendable telescopic part. For handling objects, in particular bobbins of wound packaging material, in conjunction with packaging machines, use can be made of long-stroke telescopic members (10) which effect the automatic movement of a load-bearing pin for each bobbin. The telescopic members (10) can be extended by compressed air and can be drawn in by a tension member (20). The tension member (20) is arranged outside the telescopic member (10), is fixedly anchored by one end, and can be wound up and unwound by the other end. The tension member (20) runs over a deflection wheel (23) arranged at the free end of the telescopic member (10), namely on a piston rod (15) of the same.

Abstract: Disclosed are a process and an apparatus for handling stacks of blanks (blank stacks 13). Blanks for the production of cigarette packs, especially of the hinge-lid type, are provided in the form of blank stacks (13). The blank stacks (13) are located on a base, especially on a pallet. A lifting head (18) serves for picking up and transferring the blank stacks (13) to the packaging machine. The lifting head comprises a stack lifter (28) for lifting the blank stacks (13) and a stack holder (20) for grasping and discharging the blank stacks. The stack lifter (28) is equipped with air nozzles (55) which direct an air jet downwardly onto the base (separator sheet 16) when the blank stack (13) is grasped and thus ensure that lower blanks (10) of the blank stack (13) which have not been grasped originally are lifted up as well. The lifting head (18) is also provided with (suction 59) for grasping an upper separator sheet (16) unilaterally at an edge thereof.
