Abstract: A ski having a sliding layer with ski edges, arranged on the bottom side, as well as of the core, above which a covering layer is placed, which extends over the top surface and if appropriate also over the side surfaces, is according to the invention essentially improved with respect to resistance against wear and mechanical damage without jeopardizing safety of the user. Reinforcing profiles are incorporated within the ski at least in the area of longitudinally extending top edges adjacent to the top surface or within the top surface, at least in the most exposed area on the forward portion of the ski between the tip and the ski binding, as well as on the tail of the ski. By this, the visual appearance of the ski remains essentially unchanged.
