Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention provides an apparatus, comprising a transceiver capable of transmitting decreased size management messages in a wireless network by transmitting only differences between subsequently sent management messages and previously sent management messages. The wireless network may be according to the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) latest 802.16 standard. The determination of differences between subsequent management messages may be accomplished by the management message header being extended by an optional field, informing whether the rest of the management message is a full management message or a delta from the previous management message.

Abstract: Apparatus and systems, as well as methods and articles, may operate to receive a packet on a circuit-switched channel in a wireless network, detect that a transmission window associated with the circuit-switched channel is closed, and divert the packet from the circuit-switched channel to a packet-switched channel.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to preserve bandwidth in a communication system are described wherein a receiver receives a first frame of transport blocks from a mobile device and an error detection module connected to the receiver detects whether each transport block contains an error. The error detection module generates an error indicator value to indicate whether each transport block contains an error or does not contain an error. A frame generator connected to the error detection module generates a second frame with the transport blocks that do not contain an error and the error indicator values. A first network interface is configured to send the second frame to a radio network controller. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
