    Abstract: A process which reduces the amount of sulfur compounds present in a feed gas is disclosed. A gas containing sulfur compounds is admixed with an ozone-containing gas. This admixture is then contacted with a scrubbing composition to obtain a gas and a product solution. The gas exhibiting a significant reduction in sulfur compounds as compared to the feed gas. The product solution yields a sulfate-containing compound.
