  • Publication number: 20220324943
Abstract: Provided herein are compositions and methods for the stable production of bioactive small peptides of interest through delivery to target cells based on the fusion of small peptides of interest to a collagen domain of a C1qTNF protein to produce a novel scaffold protein capable of multimerization. Advantageously, the fusion proteins, compositions and methods of the present disclosure meet existing needs in the art by providing for higher stable expression and longer stability of intracellular and secretable peptides of interest. Additionally, the fusion proteins, compositions and methods of the present disclosure provide for improved binding affinity of expressed receptor peptides with ligand binding partners in the target cell. Further provided herein are polynucleotide constructs encoding the described fusion proteins and recombinant adeno-associated viral particles comprising these polynucleotides.

  • Publication number: 20220307055
Abstract: Provided herein are improved, cost-effective and environmentally friendly methods of production of recombinant AAV (rAAV) in embryonated avian eggs. Further provided herein is a provides embryonated avian eggs as novel host vehicles for high-yield production of rAAV, including both packaging and propagation. In particular, embryonated chicken eggs provide a novel expression vehicle for AAV of mammalian origin, irrespective of AAV serotype. The disclosed methods may comprise packaging of rAAV in embryonated avian eggs (e.g., chicken eggs) by inoculating an embryonated avian egg with a first nucleic acid vector comprising a transgene and a second nucleic acid vector comprising AAV rep and cap genes, incubating the egg, and isolating rAAV from the egg, wherein the AAV is of non-avian origin. Also provided are methods of purifying and propagating packaged rAAV in embryonated avian eggs or in avian embryonic fibroblasts.

  • Publication number: 20220064579
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide an artisanal process for the manufacture of wine vinegar comprising the steps: a) dilution of the selected wine as raw material between 30 and 70%; b) preparation of the inoculum which includes acetic bacteria of the genera Acetobacter and Gluconobacter; c) addition of the wine of step a) and 10% to 30% of the inoculum selected from step b), into a fermenter; d) starting the fermentation with recirculation of the liquid; e) control of alcohol content up to 1%; f) addition of wine diluted to 50% when the amount of alcohol approaches 1%; g) completion of the fermentation when the total usable volume of the fermenter is reached and the alcohol concentration is less than 1% and acidity equal to or greater than 6%. It is further an object of the present invention a vinegar produced by the process disclosed therein.

  • Patent number: 11096372
Abstract: A sifting waste scooper including a rod assembly and a basket assembly is disclosed herein. The rod assembly includes a telescoping rod and a battery. The battery is located at the bottom portion of the telescoping rod. The rod assembly further includes an LED attachment disposed at top portion of the elongated rod. The basket assembly is located the distal top portion of the elongated rod. Furthermore, the basket assembly includes a grated basket having a plurality of holes to allow soil and sand to sift through the basket while collecting waste. The basket assembly further includes a scraper along the outer portion of the grated basket to allow a user to pick up animal waste. The shifting waste scooper allows a user to pick up small objects of waste in soil or sand without having to carry the soil or sand into a waste container.

  • Publication number: 20200202977
Abstract: A wide variety of scenarios are supported for per-biosample aggregation of sequencing yield. A sequencing system can sequence a plurality of biosamples in parallel. As sequencing yield results are acquired, they can be matched to biosamples and sequencing progress for the biosamples can be monitored. A target amount of yield can be specified so that a sequencing yield analysis application is automatically launched when aggregated yield reaches the target. Other features related to quality control and yield-in-progress can result in more efficient sequencing activities and reduction in waste.

  • Publication number: 20150073564
Abstract: Novel bioabsorbable polymeric porous tubes for tissue engineering nerve growth are disclosed. The tubes are made from a bioabsorbable polymeric foam material and have a gradient of pore sizes across the wall thickness of the tubes such that cell growth occurs into the wall of the tubes from the inner surface, while cell growth or entry is not permitted through the outer wall into the tubular wall. The wall is permeable inwardly and outwardly to fluids. A novel method of manufacturing porous nerve tubes is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20140029873
Abstract: A multilayer film comprising a valve is described. The multilayer film comprises an exterior layer and an interior layer. The interior layer comprises at least one aperture extending through the interior layer. A bonded portion and a non-bonded portion are between the interior layer and the exterior layer. The non-bonded portion comprises at least one channel and at least one passage. The at least one channel intersects the at least one passage at an angle greater than 0 degrees and less than 180 degrees, in one embodiment, the valve comprises the at least one aperture, the at least one channel and the at least one passage and provides for fluid communication from an outer surface of the interior layer to an atmosphere external to the multilayer film. The multilayer film may be provided as a web and may be used to form a variety of packages. Methods of manufacturing the film and methods of forming packages are also described.
