Publication number: 20250216275Abstract: A tactile sensor, consisting of a flexible main body with embedded magnets, soft magnetized cilia on the main body, and magnetic sensing elements embedded on the substrate layer. The magnetic sensing elements produce signals in response to the changes in the magnetic field. Tactile interaction with the main body and cilia displaces the magnetic material and changes the magnetic field. Cilia are sensitive to sub-mN force magnitudes, the main body is sensitive to larger range of force magnitudes. Multiple sensing elements, magnets and cilia may be distributed over large and curved surfaces. Three-axial forces can be measured using the sensor.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2023Publication date: July 3, 2025Inventors: Lorenzo JAMONE, Pedro RIBEIRO, Augusto BONZINI, Gokhan SOLAK, Rodrigo ZENHA, Zain MURTAZA, Elif Ecem ÖZKAN, Susana Isabel Pinheiro Cardoso de FREITAS

Publication number: 20250093436Abstract: In an method for detecting a closed loop in MRI: 3D coordinates of key characteristic points of an MRI examination subject are acquired; the 3D coordinates of the key characteristic points are adapted to a 3D body standard model, to obtain a 3D virtual body model of the examination subject; 3D surface regions of pre-designated body parts are extracted from the 3D virtual body model; based on pre-defined body parts where skin contact is likely to occur, a distance between 3D surface regions of two body parts in each body part pair are calculated; and in response to the distance between the 3D surface regions of the two body parts in any body part pair being less than a preset first threshold, a risk of a closed loop in the examination subject is determined.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2024Publication date: March 20, 2025Applicant: Siemens Healthineers AGInventors: Xu He, Luis Pedro Ribeiro Lopes, Fang Yong Sun, Hui Song, Jun Xiong, Kun Zhu

Publication number: 20240296030Abstract: A method of operating a trusted execution environment for analysing source code from a third-party vendor is disclosed. The method comprises receiving an encrypted source code and using a secure key stored within the trusted execution environment to decrypt the encrypted source code to produce a decrypted source code. The decrypted source code is analyzed to determine a trust metric for the decrypted source code. The decrypted source code is disallowed from being communicated to an external entity outside of the trusted execution environment.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2022Publication date: September 5, 2024Applicant: The Blockhouse Technology LimitedInventors: Andrew William ROSCOE, Pedro Ribeiro Goncalves ANTONINO

Publication number: 20220365188Abstract: A LIDAR system. The LIDAR system includes a light transmitting unit and a light receiving unit. A beam path is formed between the light transmitting unit and the light receiving unit of the LIDAR system, in order to optically scan surroundings of the LIDAR system during the operation of the LIDAR system. The LIDAR system is configured to recognize a contamination of the beam path, based on LIDAR measured data, which have been obtained during the optical scanning of the surroundings. A method for recognizing a contamination of a beam path of a LIDAR system is described, including recognizing the contamination by the LIDAR system based on LIDAR measured data, which have been obtained during an optical scanning of surroundings of the LIDAR system.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2022Publication date: November 17, 2022Inventors: Aron Dassler, Christian Graef, Felix Christian Abrecht, Helmut Kramer, Joao Pedro Ribeiro, Miguel Mendes, Nikolaus Moehler, Patrick Volz

Patent number: 10963497Abstract: A query parsing system uses a multi-stage process to parse the text of incoming queries before attempting to answer the queries. The multi-stage configuration involves a first trained classifier to determine the query type, or intent, of the text and a plurality of second trained classifiers, where each of the second trained classifiers is configured particularly for one specific respective query type. During query processing, the first trained classifier is used on the text to identify the query type. A second trained classifier for that specific identified query type is then found and used on the text to identify what strings in the text correspond to specific entities needed to resolve the query. The identified text strings and query type are then placed into a form understandable by a knowledge base and sent to the knowledge base for resolution. The classifiers may be trained using queries and answers previously processed by the knowledge base using a rules/template resolution process.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2016Date of Patent: March 30, 2021Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Mihai Valentin Tablan, Sina Samangooei, Arpit Mittal, David Spike Palfrey, Emilio Monti, Pedro Ribeiro, Benjamin David Scott, Petra Elisabeth Holmes, Dianhuan Lin

Patent number: 10133988Abstract: The proposed method is used for classification in open-set scenarios, wherein often it is not possible to first obtain the training data for all possible classes that may arise during the testing stage. During the test phase, test samples belonging to one of the classes used in the training phase are classified based on a ratio between similarity scores, as known correct class and test samples belonging to any other class are to be rejected and classified as unknown.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2014Date of Patent: November 20, 2018Assignees: SAMSUNG ELETRÔNICA DA AMAZÔNIA LTDA., UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DE CAMPINAS—UNICAMPInventors: Pedro Ribeiro Mendes Júnior, Roberto Medeiros De Souza, Rafael De Oliveira Werneck, Bernardo Vecchia Stein, Daniel Vatanabe Pazinato, Waldir Rodrigues De Almeida, Otávio Augusto Bizetto Penatti, Ricardo Da Silva Torres, Anderson Rocha

Publication number: 20120248042Abstract: A system and method for managing fluid mature fine tailings (MFT) containment volume in a tailings pond to a minimum, fixed steady-state volume by balancing the accumulation of the MFT in the pond with consumption of the MFT from the pond by one or both of spiking the MFT into coarse sand tailings forming a coarse sand beach with trapped fines which is segregating for forming a trafficable deposit or centrifuging MFT from the tailings pond and depositing the resulting centrifuge cake on the coarse sand beach. During the life of the oil sand operation, when the volume of MFT approaches the fixed volume of the tailings pond, MFT is consumed from the pond using both sand-spiking and centrifugation as required. Production of MFT in the pond is also reduced by diverting an underflow from a secondary flotation cell in an extraction plant from the tailings pond to a thickener where the fines-rich thickened tailings from the thickener are beached for subsequent dewatering and reclamation.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2011Publication date: October 4, 2012Applicant: TOTAL E&P CANADA LTD.Inventors: David BALDREY, Francis DEPARIS, Alexandre PACTAT, Pedro RIBEIRO, Bill SHAW, Alexander William HYNDMAN
