  • Patent number: 7438360
Abstract: An armrest includes a longitudinal core body having a substantially planar bottom surface, a non-planar top surface, and two opposite lateral surfaces. The non-planar top surface rises upwardly from the lateral surfaces to a middle of the top surface of the core body. A top veneer layer has a top surface, and a bottom connecting surface adhered to the top surface of the core body. Each of the top and bottom connecting surfaces of the top veneer layer has substantially the same outline as that of the top surface of the core body. Two lateral veneer layers have top end faces connected to the bottom connecting surface of the top veneer layer, and inner lateral surfaces adhered respectively to the lateral surfaces of the core body.

  • Patent number: 6582021
Abstract: An armrest includes an armrest body made of a wood material different from oakwood, an upper veneer layer made of oakwood and having a bottom connecting surface covering an upper surface of the armrest body, and two lateral veneer layers, each of which is made of oakwood and has an inner lateral surface covering a respective lateral surface of the armrest body. The ratio of a maximum thickness of the upper veneer layer to the maximum total height of the armrest, which is at least 2¼ inches, is at least 0.1. The ratio of a minimum thickness of each lateral veneer layer to the minimum total width of the armrest, which is at least 1½ inches, is at least 0.1.

  • Patent number: 6367878
Abstract: An armrest includes an armrest body, a veneer layer, and a pair of elongate decorative ribs. The armrest body is made of a wood material different from oak wood, extends in a longitudinal direction, and has lower, upper and opposing lateral surfaces. Each of the lateral surfaces is formed with a groove, planar and curved surface sections. The veneer layer is made of oak wood, and includes upper and lower veneer portions. The upper and lower veneer portions are fixedly attached to and cover the upper and lateral surfaces of the armrest body. Each of the decorative ribs is made of oak wood, extends in the longitudinal direction, and has a mounting section fixed in one of the grooves, and a protruding section protruding from the veneer layer.

  • Patent number: 6240698
Abstract: A composite baluster includes an elongated core made of wood, and a plastic outer shell molded over and enclosing the core. A bottom end of the core projects outward and downward from a bottom end of the outer shell. A wooden end piece is connected to and covers the bottom ends of the core and outer shell. The end piece has a top end face recessed to form a cavity for receiving the bottom end of the core. The top end face of the end piece abuts against the bottom end of the outer shell.
