The image processing circuit selects a driving signal waveform according to the determined display mode. The timing controller is electrically connected to the image processing circuit. The timing controller outputs the selected driving signal waveform to drive an electronic paper display panel of the electronic paper display apparatus to display image frames.

The temperature sensor generates a temperature parameter by sensing an environment temperature. The selector is coupled to the driving signal generator and the temperature sensor. The selector selects one of the periodic alternative current signals or one of the direct current signals as the driving signal according to the temperature parameter. The driving signal is a common voltage for the electro-phoretic display, and when one of the periodic alternative current signals is selected as the driving signal, an amplitude of the driving signal is varied with the environment temperature.

When the pixel is used for displaying a first color, the first scan line receives a first driving voltage, the second scan line is coupled to ground, and other first scan lines and other second scan lines receive a first voltage. A voltage difference between the first driving voltage and the first voltage and a voltage difference between the ground and the first voltage are smaller than a first threshold value corresponding to the first color.

The compensation circuit reduces a voltage drop between a pixel voltage of the pixel and a common voltage of the common electrode when the plurality of first switches are turned off. A capacitor of the compensation circuit is coupled between each scan line and the common electrode. A second switch of the compensation circuit is turned off to float the common electrode before the plurality of first switches are turned off.
