  • Publication number: 20180338695
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for measuring systolic arterial blood pressure of a patient utilizing a finger cuff including an inflatable bladder and a pulsatility sensor that detects arterial pulsatility in a finger of the patient, the method comprising: placing the finger cuff around the finger of the patient; inflating the bladder of the finger cuff until the finger cuff applies a first pressure to the finger, the first pressure being greater than the systolic pressure to be measured; deflating the bladder of the finger cuff until the finger cuff applies a second pressure to the finger, the second pressure being less than the systolic pressure to be measured; monitoring the arterial pulsatility in the finger with the pulsatility sensor; and obtaining a measurement of the systolic arterial blood pressure based on pressure applied to the finger by the finger cuff and the arterial pulsatility in the finger.

  • Publication number: 20180310840
Abstract: Disclosed is a clamp mechanism to assist in attaching a finger cuff to a patient's finger by a medical assistant. The clamp mechanism may comprise a mounting structure including a top portion having a gap, opposed descending sides, an exterior, and a pair of opposed clamping members. The pair of opposed clamping members extend from opposite sides of the exterior of the mounting structure to form a clamping slot over the gap. The clamping slot is openable by the medical assistant to allow for the pulling of the first side and the second side of the finger cuff by the medical assistant through the gap and the opened clamping slot. Further, the clamping slot is closeable by the medical assistant so that the first side and the second side of the finger cuff are clamped together such that the finger cuff is firmly attachable to the patient's finger.

  • Publication number: 20180206789
Abstract: The invention relates to an extremity cuff such as a finger cuff for determining a physiological parameter. The extremity cuff comprises an extremity module for releasably surrounding an extremity portion in a circumferential direction. The extremity module includes a bladder system for exerting a pressure on extremity tissue. Further, the finger module includes a photoplethysmograph system for performing a radiation measurement on extremity tissue. The bladder system includes multiple bladder volumes that are expandable and retractable independently of each other.
