  • Patent number: 7509145
Abstract: A transmission method and a base transceiver station applying antenna hopping between at least two antenna elements are provided. According to one embodiment of the invention, a carrier carrying a first signal and a second signal is transmitted. At least a portion of the first signal is subjected to a measurement for adjusting receive characteristics of a mobile station for the reception of at least a portion of the second signal. Antenna hopping is applied to the carrier such that the at least a portion of the first signal and the at least a portion of the second signal are transmitted during an interval between two consecutive antenna hops between the at least two antenna elements.

  • Patent number: 7200172
Abstract: A method of operation of a receiver of a mobile station or a base station of a radio access network and corresponding equipment, the method for especial use in providing interference cancellation according to a single antenna interference cancellation (SAIC) algorithm. The method includes a step (22) in which a channel estimator (12) estimates channel impulse response components for use by a SAIC equalizer (14); in estimating the channel impulse response components, the channel estimator (12) minimizes a special cost function (Jch(h)) with respect to the components of the channel impulse response h. In some embodiments, the method uses an iterative least mean squares procedure to minimize the cost function (Jch(h)).

  • Patent number: 6944434
Abstract: A method of operation of a filter (12) of a receiver (10) of a mobile station or a base station of a radio access network and corresponding equipment, the method for use in suppressing co-channel interference and based on separating the in-phase (I) and quadrature phase (Q) components of the received signal and then performing whitening on a symbol-by-symbol basis, i.e. the whitening operation is done within one symbol.

  • Publication number: 20040266360
Abstract: A method for forming signals at a transceiver having at least two transmit and receive chain, the method comprising the steps of: (a) determining the phase difference and relative amplitude of signals from a set comprising a plurality of mobile stations as received through the receive chains, (b) receiving from each of at least one of the mobile stations messages indicative of the strength or quality of signals as received by the respective mobile station from the transceiver and on the basis of those messages determining a phase offset and amplitude distortion, internal to the transceiver, resulting from the differences in the instrumental properties of the receiver and transmitter chains in the transceiver; and (c) transmitting signals from each of the transmitter chains by applying to each transmitter chain amplitude weights and signal delays, selected on the basis of the determined phase offset and amplitude distortion, and received relative amplitudes and phase differences.

  • Publication number: 20020173336
Abstract: The invention relates to a terminal, a terminal unit, a method, a receiving unit and transmitting unit. The terminal unit comprises a main receiver and at least one auxiliary receiver. At least one auxiliary receiver is connected to function as a receiving unit, which the main receiver controls by controlling means. At least one auxiliary receiver comprises means for supplying a signal received by it to processing by the main receiver and/or the terminal unit comprises a main transmitter and at least one auxiliary transmitter. The main transmitter and at least one auxiliary transmitter are connected to function as a transmitting unit, which the main transmitter controls by controlling means.

  • Patent number: 6345183
Abstract: A method and a system in a digital radio system for signalling between a base station and a subscriber terminal. The signals transmitted over the radio connection between the base station and the subscriber terminal comprise bursts consisting of symbols. The bursts comprise a known training sequence. According to the invention, the training sequence is used for signalling. By the invention, it is possible to implement signalling related to power control of the base station or the subscriber terminal, or in packet transfer, the numbering of bursts, packets or other data blocks.
