  • Publication number: 20130040793
Abstract: A stopping device (10) for a segmented roll in a fiber-web machine for assisting the stopping of the rotation of one or more roll segment(s) (52) of the segmented roll (50) has at least one braking device (12), by means of which the roll segment (52) can be stopped, and at least one surface contact member (14, 14?), which surface contact member is connected to said braking device, and the stopping device further comprises actuators (16) for optionally bringing/releasing the surface contact member into/from surface contact with the shell of one or more roll segment(s) (52). The invention also relates to a segmented roll assembly (60) in a fiber-web machine, in which the segmented roll (50) comprises at least two, independently from one another rotatable roll segments (52) that are located end-to-end substantially in the transverse direction of the fiber-web machine.

  • Patent number: 6723032
Abstract: A segmented roll has a plurality of end-to-end mounted roll segments (10, 10′), each adapted to rotate on bearings supported on a separate support shaft (11). In both axial end surfaces of the support shafts (11) of the roll segments (10) there are coupling means such as an annular projection and an annular recess serving to disengageably connect two adjacent roll segments (10) to each other. The support shaft (11) has at least two parts (16, 18) whose mutual disposition is made alterable for the purpose of altering the axial length of the support shaft (11) so much that the coupling means (29, 41) of the facing axial ends of two adjacent roll segments (10) can be engaged and disengaged with each other. This arrangement makes it possible to change a single roll segment from the central area of the segmented roll without the need for disassembling the entire row of roll segments.

  • Patent number: 6355128
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for making a splice into a paper web, which device (10) has been fitted to be used as an auxiliary device in making a cross-direction splice between two ends of a web in a winder. The device (10) comprises a suction zone (11) for immobilizing the web and means (15) for keeping the device (10) in the desired location. The device has been attached to the frame constructions of the winder by means of relief devices. The invention also concerns a method for making a splice into a paper web, in which method a cross-direction splice is prepared between two ends of a web in a winder by means of a device (10) operating as an auxiliary device. In the method, the web is immobilized in a suction zone (11) of the device (10). In the method the device (10) is kept in its place by means of devices (15), and the device (10) is operated as relieved by means of relief devices as attached to the frame constructions of the winder.

  • Patent number: 5950958
Abstract: A method and arrangement in winding of a web, in particular a paper or board web, in which the web is wound onto a first roll spool to form a first roll. When the first roll is complete, first and second edges of a material strip having a set length in a running direction of the web are attached to the web at first and second fixing points, respectively, at a location before the web is wound about the first roll spool such that the length of the web between the first and second fixing points is less than the length of the material strip. The first and second edges of the material strip extend in a direction substantially transverse to a running direction of the web.

  • Patent number: 5679408
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for application of an adhesive or equivalent onto a moving material web, wherein the adhesive is applied by means of at least one applicator device (20) through at least one nozzle (30) onto the face of the material web to consititute an adhesive strip (G) in the longitudinal direction of the material web (W). In the method, the material web (W) is made to run at an invariable distance from the nozzle (30) end placed next to the material web (W). The adhesive is passed onto the material web (W) through the nozzle (30) in the applicator head (31) of the applicator device (20), and the applicator head (31) the nozzle (30) for the adhesive washed for the next cycle of use in a container space (23) in the applicator device (20).

  • Patent number: 5679108
Abstract: A fixing end for cores used for reeling including wedge pieces movable in an axial direction and bevelled holes bored on the outer circumference of the fixing end and out of which a holding surface of the wedge pieces ascends for locking the fixing end securely to an inner surface of the core. The radial motion of the holding surface of the wedge piece into and out of the hole, i.e, relative to the outer surface of the fixing end, is forced-controlled and the forced-control is provided by means of the axial motion of the wedge piece.
