  • Patent number: 6929202
Abstract: A method of feeding a wood batch into a pressure grinder, the method comprising first collecting the wood batch to be fed into the grinder into a separate batch chamber above a side feeding chamber, from which the wood batch is lowered vertically by means of a separate supporting plate to the side feeding chamber. Thereafter, the wood batch is transferred from the side feeding chamber into the feeding chamber. An arrangement for feeding a wood batch into a pressure grinder comprises a batch chamber above a side feeding chamber and in which the wood batch to be fed into the pressure grinder is formed before it is lowered into the side feeding chamber.

  • Patent number: 6193180
Abstract: An arrangement in a pulp grinder comprising a grindstone (1), a feed chute (2), and a piston to feed wood (3) against the grindstone (1). The arrangement comprises separate pushing members (6), which are arranged to push the wood (3) against the grindstone (1) at essentially the entire width of the feed chute when the percussion piston is moved back to the stroke position to allow the feed of a new batch of wood.

  • Patent number: 6109550
Abstract: An arrangement for providing continuous grinding in a pulp grinder comprising a feed chute and a piston in the feed chute moving lengthwise of the feed chute for pressing the wood in the feed chute against a grindstone. The arrangement comprises rotary feed members between the piston and the grindstone on the sides of the feed chute for pushing the compressed wood further against the grindstone. Also, the arrangement comprises a closing member that can be pushed between the compressed wood and the piston to prevent the wood from moving backward with the piston as the piston is moved to the initial position, ready for the stroke, to allow the feed of a new batch of wood.

  • Patent number: 6095443
Abstract: An arrangement in a pulp grinder comprising a grindstone, a feed chute extending to the grindstone, a piston moving in the feed chute, an auxiliary piston and closing members. In the arrangement, there are recesses on the front of the piston and apertures in the auxiliary piston so that the closing members can be pushed from both sides of the feed chute through the auxiliary piston to the recesses of the piston so that they settle behind the wood pressed by the piston.

  • Patent number: 4666093
Abstract: Frame construction for a pressure grinding machine of press type, which frame construction comprises a gastight, pressure-proof grinding chamber, bearing housings for a grinder member revolving in the grinding chamber, as well as at least one press chamber for the pulpwood and a press device limiting the press chamber on one side. The frame construction consists of two separate parts, namely a pressure frame, which constitutes the said grinding chamber and press chamber and which substantially receives the pressure forces resulting from the positive pressure prevailing in the grinding chamber, and a power frame, which connects the press device and the bearing housings of the grindstone to each other and which substantially receives the tensile and circumferential forces resulting from the grinding and from the pressing of the wood against the grindstone.

  • Patent number: 4664323
Abstract: A method for feeding a wood batch into a pressure grinder, according to which method the wood batch is first fed into a pressurizable feeding device (9) and thereafter from the feeding device into a continuously pressurized grinding chamber (5) to make contact with a grinding means (3) rotating in the grinding chamber. The wood batch is fed from the feeding device into the grinding chamber essentially in a horizontal plane in the direction of the axis (4) of rotation of the grinding means for maintaining proper order of the wood batch during the feeding operation. In a feeding device for carrying out the method the feeding device (9) is positioned on the side of the grinding chamber (5) so that the bottom (10a) of the feeding pocket (10) formed by the feeding device is essentially in level with the bottom (5a) of the grinding chamber. The feeding device is provided with a pushing means (17) displaceable in the feeding pocket towards the grinding chamber in parallel with the level of the bottom.

  • Patent number: 4305590
Abstract: A sealing arrangement for a shutter for a feeding chamber of a continuously operating pressure grinder. The feeding chamber is provided with an inlet opening for feeding wood batches at atmospheric pressure into said feeding chamber and with an outlet opening for feeding said wood batches into the grinding chamber at overpressure. Each opening of said feeding chamber is provided with a shutter movable between an opened position and a closed position for preventing of escape of said overpressure through said feeding chamber. The feeding chamber is provided with a fixed guide supporting the shutter during its movement between opened and closed positions. Said guide comprises two parallel support surfaces between which the shutter is slidably mounted. The distance between said support surfaces is greater than the thickness of the shutter adjacent said support surfaces so that the shutter is displaceable towards and away from said support surfaces in a direction perpendicular to said support surfaces.
