Patent number: 9639273Abstract: An approach is provided for representing content data. The cleanup manager determines one or more data types of content associated with a device. Next, the cleanup manager determines effect information regarding one or more effects on one or more resources of the device with respect to the one or more data types. Then, the cleanup manager presents one or more representations of the one or more data types, wherein the one or more representations are based, at least in part, on the effect information.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2011Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: Nokia Technologies OyInventors: Ari-Pekka Hirvonen, Lauri Rauhanen, Aapo Matias Hasu, Jari Tapio Ijäs, Rit Mishra, Jonatan Hedberg

Patent number: 8635317Abstract: An approach is provided for providing uniform content management for a user equipment. A uniform content management platform determines new content from a plurality of content of different categories. The uniform content management platform further initiates presentation of the new content via a graphical user interface that includes: a dashboard providing a layout of the new content, a content manager that is invoked upon selection of a particular one of the new content for managing a group of content of a common category, and a content editor that is invoked upon selection of one of the content in the group for editing the selected content.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2009Date of Patent: January 21, 2014Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Samuli Ylinen, Teemu Kankaanpää, Ari-Pekka Hirvonen, Jaana Huotari, Andrew Daymond, Aki Tamminen, Aki Lehto, Kalle Ojala, Marko Lindgren, Christopher Michael Nyffeler, Nerea Armendariz, Kristian Russell Thomas Simsarian, Energy Cruse, II, Anne Sybille Pascual, Marcus Hauer, Abbe Don, Astrid Jantina Van Der Flier, Scott Yiu-Lun Tong, Adam Glazier, Jeffrey John Cunningham, Stephen O'Connor, Katrin B. Patent number: 8595638Abstract: A user interface comprising a controller configured to display a map and to display at least one marked location on said map. The location is associated with at least one graphical object. The controller is further configured to determine whether a first graphical object will overlap a second graphical object when rendered and if so said controller is configured to create a third graphical object being associated with said first and second graphical objects and render said third graphical object.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2008Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Sanna Maarit Belitz, Jorma Tapio Suutarinen, Ari Pekka Hirvonen

Publication number: 20120284658Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for facilitating management of widgets. A method may include determining a selection of a graphical widget displayed in a widget tray for addition to a home screen. The widget tray may contain one or more widgets available to add to the home screen and may be displayed concurrently with at least a portion of the home screen. The selected graphical widget may be displayed in the widget tray with an appearance substantially similar to how the selected graphical widget would appear if added to the home screen. The method may further include, responsive to the selection of the graphical widget, causing the selected graphical widget to be added to the home screen. Corresponding apparatuses are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2011Publication date: November 8, 2012Inventor: Ari-Pekka Hirvonen

Publication number: 20120198347Abstract: An approach is provided for enhancing presentment of content data. The content personalization platform determining one or more data categories for presentation in a user interface of a device. The content personalization platform also determines use information associated with the one or more data categories, one or more items within the data categories, or a combination thereof. Then, the content personalization platform then processes and/or facilitates a processing of the use information to determine proportions of the user interface for presenting one or more of the data categories.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2011Publication date: August 2, 2012Applicant: Nokia CorporationInventors: Ari-Pekka Hirvonen, Lauri Rauhanen

Patent number: 5852650Abstract: In a method and system for recovering a faulty unit, a predetermined number of recovery periods, and the maximum number of times a recovery act is carried out during a recovery period, are defined. A faulty unit is taken out of operation, recovered (i.e. subjected to a procedure designed for remediating the fault, if possible), and brought back into operation if tests indicate that the unit is in condition (i.e., is not faulty). The recovered unit is monitored for the time of succeeding recovery periods and is re-recovered, if necessary, provided that the number of the recovery acts carried out during each recovery period does not exceed the maximum number predetermined for the respective period. As a result, bouncing of the unit back and forth in an uncontrolled manner, if the fault is of such a type that the recovery system cannot detect it on the basis of the tests carried out, is reduced and eventually curtailed.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1997Date of Patent: December 22, 1998Assignee: Nokia Telecommunications OyInventors: Altti Hyyrynen, Jussi Sarpola, Pekka Hirvonen

Patent number: 5078848Abstract: Procedure and apparatus for the coating of materials. In the procedure the material or substrate (7) is coated by means of a pulsating plasma beam emitted from at least one electrode (1). The plasma beam is accelerated by a magnetic field and deflected by the same to separate the uncharged particles from it, whereupon the plasma beam hits the surface of the material (7) to be coated. The apparatus of the invention for the coating of materials is provided with electrodes (1, 3), at least one voltage source (2) and at least one capacitor (C1) for producing a pulsating plasma beam and at least one deflected coil (4) which generates a magnetic field that accelerates the plasma beam emitted by at least one electrode (1) and deflects the beam to separate the uncharged particles from it.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1990Date of Patent: January 7, 1992Inventors: Asko Anttila, Juha-Pekka Hirvonen, Jari Koskinen
