  • Patent number: 7720029
Abstract: Channel selection in a wireless telecommunication system includes determining at least one transmission frequency used by a first transceiver from information on the first transceiver. The harmonics of the transmission frequency are determined and at least one channel used by the second transceiver is selected by at least taking into account the harmonics of the transmission frequency of the first transceiver.

  • Patent number: 7359989
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of transferring required messages for acquiring a temporary MAC address in a wireless local area network. In a first device in the local area network, a first identifier is determined to identify the first device. A message comprising the first identifier is transmitted from the first device to a second device to arrange a temporary MAC address. A response message relating to the acquisition of the MAC address and comprising the first identifier is transmitted from the second device to the first device. The first device identifies on the basis of the first identifier that the response message is intended for it.

  • Patent number: 7289807
Abstract: A system and method for using licensed radio technology for determining the operation parameters which should be used by a terminal. The present invention involves the terminal using its GSM system, if activated, to determine whether mobile country code for a nearby cellular terminal is located within the United States or Canada. If the code designates the United States or Canada, then the terminal uses the US domain and the corresponding transmission channels and power levels. If the code does not designate the United State or Canada, then an ETSI domain is used, along with the appropriate transmission channels and power levels.

  • Patent number: 7006447
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, provides for field-testing and calibration of a WLAN device. In testing of the receive portion of the WLAN device, test apparatus is provided with a transmit signal of known characteristics. The test apparatus selectably attenuates the transmit signal to form an attenuated signal. The WLAN device is connected to receive the transmit signal, once attenuated by the test apparatus. Responsive to differences between measured and calculated characteristics of the transmit signal, calibration for determination of proper operation of the WLAN device is made and calibration of the WLAN device is effectuated.

  • Patent number: 6914890
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for selecting the sequence in which frames of data are communicated in a multi-user, multi-rate, radio communication system. Data that is to be communicated at higher transmission rates to certain users is selected to be sequenced prior to transmission of data to be transmitted at lower transmission rates to other users. Polling is performed to determine at what transmission rates that data is to be communicated with individual ones of the users. And, an ordered sequence is formed. The ordered sequence defines sequencing of the transmission of data.

  • Patent number: 6829288
Abstract: A wireless device, for use in an ad hoc network and a communication system therefor having ad hoc networks feature one or more such devices having a transceiver including a receiver portion which simultaneously correlates (33, 34 in FIG. 3) an access code of an incoming data packet against that associated with plural wireless protocol versions, supported by that wireless device (BT), in a manner permitting a linkup between that wireless device and any of the other devices, the other devices including ones which are programmed to correlate against any single one of the protocol versions, as well as ones which are programmed to simultaneously correlate against the referred-to plural protocol versions. As an example, the receiver portion employs as many parallel-connected correlators as are the number of wireless protocol versions such wireless device supports simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20040192222
Abstract: An antenna coupling system and method for operating same are adapted to operate a common antenna with a first transceiver and a second transceiver. The first transceiver provides a quality signal relating to a received radio frequency (RF) signal, which is supplied to the antenna coupling system. The antenna coupling system is operable with at least one low loss mode and at least one high loss mode in accordance with the provided quality signal as desired. The antenna coupling system couples selectively one of the first and the second transceivers to the common antenna in the at least one low loss mode such that in the meantime the other one is disconnected from the common antenna. The antenna coupling system couples simultaneously the first transceiver and the second transceiver to the common antenna in the at least one high loss mode.
