Abstract: A memory management method includes starting a first application that comprises a first process and a second process, where a process name of the second process comprises a process name of the first process and a colon. The method also includes switching the first application to background and starting a second application. After the first application is switched to the background and the second application is started, a compression ratio of data of the first process is a first compression ratio, a compression ratio of data of the second process is a second compression ratio, and the first compression ratio is greater than the second compression ratio.

Abstract: A process control method and apparatus are provided to implement intelligent control on each process in a terminal device and prevent a process important to a user from being killed while memory is released. The method includes: obtaining information, a package name, and a process name that are of a first process of a first application running on a terminal device; based on the information about the first process, determining to kill the first process; marking the package name and the process name that are of the first process; and based on marking results of a package name and a process name that are of a second process, controlling the second process.

Abstract: An application keepalive method includes, when a foreground application run by the electronic device is switched from a first application to a second application, a callback probability of the second application relative to the first application is obtained, and when the callback probability of the second application relative to the first application is greater than a preset threshold, a keepalive priority of the first application is increased when the first application is used as a background application. When system resources are insufficient, the electronic device ends a process of at least one background application in ascending order of keepalive priorities to release system resources.
