    Abstract: A composite swim fin with a cantilevered heel. The cantilevered heel acts as a structural member extending to and beneath the swimmer's heel to counteract the flexure of the swim fin blade during the most powerful downward kick, This type of loading on the heel of the foot replicates the natural loading incurred on the heel of the foot during walking and reduces uncomfortable stress concentrations that might otherwise occur upon the swimmer's foot.
